The ASEAN - China Media Cooperation Forum 2025 is a prestigious annual dialogue event, gathering high-level representatives from media agencies, ministries and academic institutions of China and 10 ASEAN countries. This year, the forum was chaired by the China International Media Group (CICG) and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the context of increasingly complex global information competition, the forum focused on promoting cooperation in key areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), general content production and digital media platform development.
Outstanding initiatives for the common future
One of the important highlights at this year's forum is the announcement of the ASEAN - China Media Initiative, with 4 major goals: Promoting two-way communication connectivity; Strengthening training and press exchange; Cooperating in digital transformation and new technologies such as AI, big data; Building a network of regional media partners.

Chinese delegates shared a harmonious model of combining tradition and modern technology in content development, while ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, emphasized the protection of cultural identity and prevention of fake news.
The forum also encourages the production of general content such as documentaries, bilingual TV programs, periodic ASEAN - China newsletters and the application of modern technology such as 5G, 4K/8K television, blockchain to protect media copyright.
Vietnam proposes vision for responsible digital press cooperation
At the plenary session on digital transformation and artificial intelligence in journalism, Deputy Minister Phan Tam gave a profound speech, emphasizing the importance of applying AI responsibly, associated with professional ethics and social benefits.
This forum was attended by more than 200 delegates from national press agencies, research organizations, media technology companies and representatives of governments of ASEAN - China countries. Within the framework of the event, there were also new media technology exhibitions, bilateral cooperation connection sessions and memorandum of understanding signing ceremonies between a number of regional press agencies.
