Vietnam - Dominican Republic still has a lot of room for development

The Dominican Republic wishes to continue to exchange and learn from Vietnam's experiences, development achievements and international integration.

On the afternoon of November 20 (local time), continuing his official visit to the Dominican Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Miguel Mejia - General Secretary of the United Left Movement (MIU), Minister of Regional Integration Policy of the Dominican Republic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy at his first official visit to the Dominican Republic and thanked the Government and people of the Dominican Republic and General Secretary Miguel Mejia for the warm and respectful welcome given to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

Conveying General Secretary To Lam's regards to MIU Party General Secretary Miguel Mejia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that he values ​​the solidarity and active support of the MIU Party, General Secretary Miguel Mejia personally, and the people of the Dominican Republic for the Communist Party of Vietnam and the people of Vietnam in the past struggle to liberate the South and unify the country, as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.

Sharing the results of the previous talks with President Luis Abinader Corona, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the MIU, as a member of the ruling coalition, continue to support and assist in directions and measures to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries towards the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (July 7, 2005 - July 7, 2025), especially promoting high-level visits and contacts, improving the effectiveness of the Political Consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries, closely cooperating and supporting each other at international organizations and forums, and strengthening cooperation between the two Parties, including continuing to effectively implement the signed Cooperation Agreement between the two Parties for the period 2023 - 2028.

The Prime Minister assessed that economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic still have a lot of room for development, and suggested that both sides pay attention to promoting business and investment cooperation in areas that are strengths of each country, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

General Secretary and Minister of Regional Integration Policy Miguel Mejia expressed his pleasure at receiving Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, saying that the Prime Minister's visit is a historic milestone in the relationship between the two countries, creating an important driving force to promote the friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic in general, as well as between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the MIU in particular.

Expressing admiration for the heroic struggle history of the Vietnamese people, respect and love for President Ho Chi Minh, he congratulated Vietnam's achievements in all aspects in nearly 40 years of Renovation and national development today.

General Secretary Miguel Mejia expressed that the MIU wishes to continue exchanging and learning about Vietnam's experiences, development achievements and international integration; affirming that it will promote business connections between the two countries to explore cooperation opportunities in potential fields such as telecommunications, construction materials, energy, oil and gas, information technology, electric vehicle distribution, tourism, etc., contributing to improving the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
