The Chairman of the Russian State Duma affirmed to General Secretary To Lam that Vietnam is Russia's trusted friend in Southeast Asia.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to and wishes to continuously strengthen and develop relations with Russia, in which the parliamentary channel plays a practical role in promoting and supervising the implementation of inter-governmental agreements, while deepening understanding and trust between the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma through regularly maintaining high-level delegation exchanges, groups of friendly parliamentarians and professional committees; promoting the exchange of legislative experience, perfecting the legal framework to facilitate the expansion of bilateral cooperation.

General Secretary To Lam and President of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized the important role of the two countries' parliament in supporting efforts to strengthen economic - trade, investment, energy, education - training and people-to-people exchanges, cooperation between localities; promoting the removal of procedural barriers, creating favorable conditions for citizens of the two countries to live, study and work in each other's territories.

The two leaders also agreed that the two sides will coordinate to further enhance exchanges between the younger generation to preserve and continue the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed strengthening coordination at multilateral parliamentary forums, thereby demonstrating a common voice for peace, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.
