On the afternoon of June 9, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam cordially received Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the Lao Prime Minister and the Prime Ministers of Cambodia, Thailand, and Timor-Leste's participation and speeches at the opening session of the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum, which not only contributed to the overall success of the forum, but also strongly demonstrated the ASEAN solidarity and special strategic solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested the two countries to continue to consolidate political trust, maintain delegation exchanges, high-level contacts on all channels, exchange and share strategic issues, coordinate well to concretize the content of strategic linkages in all fields; maintain good cooperation in the field of security and defense with high reliability; promote more practical and effective economic cooperation, becoming a real pillar in Vietnam-Laos cooperation relations; innovate cooperation methods in the field of education and training, human resource development; effectively expand cooperation between localities with many rich forms.
General Secretary and President To Lam noted that in cooperative relations, the two sides need to shift from good cooperation to effective cooperation; concretize commitments into practical results; take practical efficiency and the interests of the people of the two countries as the highest measure; periodically review the situation of cooperative relations and propose cooperation directions for each stage.
Regarding a number of specific projects and cooperation contents, General Secretary and President To Lam suggested that the two sides should prioritize promoting strategic cooperation projects on transportation, energy, agriculture, digital transformation, especially cooperation projects to develop Vung Ang port, Hanoi - Vientiane highway, Vung Ang - Vientiane railway to meet the trade needs of the two countries, support Lao goods to reach regional and world markets; reform border procedures, continue to implement payments in domestic currency to create conditions for people to travel, travel, trade, and invest; focus on exchanging and definitively resolving existing problems and obstacles, thereby continuing to propose new cooperation contents, suitable to the conditions and capabilities of each country.
Expressing his pleasure to meet General Secretary and President To Lam again, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone informed General Secretary and President To Lam about the results of the talks with Politburo Member and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, agreeing on extremely important contents for the cooperative relationship between the two countries in the coming time, including concretizing the content of linking the Vietnam - Laos strategy in all fields.
Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly agreed with the cooperation orientations set out by General Secretary and President To Lam; affirmed that the Lao Government will closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement key cooperation projects, remove difficulties for businesses of the two countries, and create strong changes in economic cooperation commensurate with the special political relations between the two countries.
