On the afternoon of October 17, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated Vietnam's reaction to Cambodia's withdrawal from the CLV Development Triangle cooperation mechanism at the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang stated: "The relationship of solidarity, closeness, friendship and trust between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia is a valuable asset for all three peoples. There are many cooperation mechanisms between the three countries of Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam, including the development cooperation between Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam. Each mechanism has its own value and contribution to the friendly cooperation as well as the development of all three countries."
Ms. Pham Thu Hang added: "Over the past 25 years, cooperation in the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle has contributed to promoting traditional relations as well as economic, trade and people-to-people cooperation, and helping to narrow the development gap and improve people's lives in border areas as well as in the three countries."
Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed, "Vietnam has been and will continue to consult with Laos and Cambodia to continue promoting extensive, substantive, effective cooperation between the three countries, in line with development requirements in the new period, for the benefit of the people of the three countries, for the ASEAN community, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region."
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam informed that on September 24, 2024, on the occasion of attending the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired a working breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia affirmed that Cambodia's withdrawal from the CLV Development Triangle will not affect other bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms between the three countries.
Also during the meeting, the 3 Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister hoped that the 3 countries would continue to coordinate closely, develop cooperative relations more effectively and substantially, for the benefit of the people of the 3 countries, for the common ASEAN Community and continue to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
