This morning (October 9), Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of Central Propaganda Nguyen Trong Nghia attended the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024 - 2025 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia commented that since its establishment in 1956, nearly 70 years have passed, the Polytechnic University, now Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the cradle of training scientific and technical staff, has made important contributions to the country. The Party, the State and the people have always cared about and placed their trust in Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh visited the school three times in four years (1958 - 1962), showing his special interest in the place that trains important scientific and technical human resources.
“Generations of “Polytechnicians”, one generation after another, have made great contributions and dedication to the country’s science, technology and engineering. Over the past 70 years, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has trained over 200,000 engineers; 17,000 masters; and nearly 1,200 doctors” - Head of Central Propaganda stated.
According to the Head of Central Propaganda, recently, according to the QS (UK) university rankings, in 2023, Hanoi University of Science and Technology ranked 248th in Asia; at the 54th position in Southeast Asia.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology is an active and key member of the national innovation network, playing a leading role among domestic technical universities to develop and spread initiatives, scientific and technological solutions and innovation.
The Head of Central Propaganda emphasized the requirement to promote the long tradition, be proud of the glorious achievements that have been made, aiming to build Hanoi University of Science and Technology to become a leading university in Asia; a research university, innovation, comprehensive autonomy; a center of technological innovation, excellence in the region.
Reporting at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang - Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that the theme of the 2024 - 2025 school year is "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline".
In the period of 2030 - 2035, the Party and the State have assigned the task to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to have a breakthrough and outstanding development to be among the top universities in Asia. Currently, the school has completed the Project to submit to the Ministry of Education and Training to seek opinions from relevant ministries, branches and localities and is expected to submit to the Prime Minister in November 2024.
Representing the new students of K69, student Nguyen Dao Khanh Linh - Information Technology major - expressed her determination: "Although our journey at Hanoi Polytechnic has just begun, I believe that you and I will overcome the thorny challenges ahead with the determination and confidence of Polytechnic youth, with the spirit of "studying at Polytechnic to do difficult work". Always keep in mind that you must try your best every day to be able to do it to the best of your ability".
