On the afternoon of January 9, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang - Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - chaired a press conference to inform about the Homeland Spring 2025 program.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang shared that Xuan Que Huong has become an annual event that attracts a lot of attention from the overseas Vietnamese community. In recent years, the program has welcomed the leaders of the Party and State to attend, the President directly wished overseas Vietnamese a happy new year, showing concern and encouraging overseas Vietnamese to continue to unite, strive, and contribute to the construction and protection of the Fatherland.
Ms. Hang informed that the Spring Homeland program in 2025, co-organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People's Committee, with the theme "Vietnam - Rising in the new era", will take place from January 18 to January 20 (ie December 19 to 21 of the year of the Dragon).
It is expected that approximately 1,000 overseas Vietnamese will return to the country to participate in activities within the framework of the program. Of these, approximately 100 overseas Vietnamese will be represented in various fields, such as overseas Vietnamese participating in the local political system, artists, businessmen, intellectuals, and experts in various fields.
“Xuan Que Huong is the first political and cultural event of 2025 - a year full of extremely meaningful events for Vietnam. The theme "Vietnam - Rising in the new era" will carry a message associated with important events of the country and also demonstrate the aspirations of the Vietnamese people to rise in the new era. We want this to be an event to honor the great contributions and dedication of overseas Vietnamese in the cause of national construction and development, while at the same time encouraging and motivating overseas Vietnamese to continue to strive, work, study, unite, build a stable and strong community, and contribute to the era of national rise together with compatriots in the country" - Ms. Hang said.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang added: “We hope that every time Tet comes, spring comes, Vietnamese people abroad will not only return to reunite with their families to celebrate the traditional Tet in their homeland, but also have the opportunity to connect and bond with the country, to affirm the close relationship between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland. Over the years, we have also witnessed many first-time returns of Vietnamese people abroad on the occasion of Spring Homeland, as well as returns after many years so that people can witness the strong development of their homeland.”
Within the framework of the Homeland Spring 2025 program, it is expected that President Luong Cuong and his wife will preside over a number of activities with overseas Vietnamese: Incense offering ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace - Thang Long Imperial Citadel, traditional carp releasing ritual on the occasion of Ong Cong Ong Tao Festival at Uncle Ho's Fish Pond.
President Luong Cuong will deliver a New Year’s greeting to all overseas Vietnamese and beat the drum to open the Spring Festival in the Spring Homeland art exchange program with the theme: “Vietnam - Rising in the new era”. The program is scheduled to take place at the National Convention Center, with the participation of domestic and overseas artists, and nearly 1,500 overseas Vietnamese delegates, relatives and domestic guests.
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, in addition to the activities chaired by the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also organized a number of activities for the delegation of 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese, including: Visiting President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, offering flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, greeting Party and State leaders, and having a program to connect with localities, including Hanoi and Hung Yen province.
