Reducing the long-term burden for kidney failure patients
For patients with end-stage chronic kidney failure, each week is associated with prolonged blood filtration sessions and constant worries about health and treatment costs. Kidney transplantation is not only a treatment method, but also an opportunity for patients to regain normal life and continue to implement unfinished projects.
However, in Khanh Hoa and the South Central Coast - Central Highlands region, many patients still have to travel long distances to large organ transplant centers to seek that opportunity, facing additional burdens of time, costs and post-transplant monitoring journey.
In that context, Vinmec Nha Trang hospital officially received the full transfer of kidney transplantation techniques from Hue Central Hospital. The cooperation with this leading organ transplant center is a strategic step forward, helping to improve the specialized treatment capacity of the entire region.
According to the content of the agreement, Hue Central Hospital will comprehensively transfer the kidney transplant process from screening and evaluation of donors - recipients, pre-transplant preparation, surgery, post-transplant resuscitation to long-term monitoring and management. In particular, leading experts will directly accompany the Vinmec Nha Trang team in the first transplants to ensure professional quality and maximum safety for patients.
The project has a total budget of 3 billion VND, of which the transfer cost is 1.5 billion VND and will be implemented within 12 months. The goal is that after receiving the transfer, Vinmec Nha Trang Hospital will successfully perform at least 3 pairs of kidney transplants by June 2027. People in Khanh Hoa and the South Central region will have more opportunities to access kidney transplant techniques right in their localities instead of having to travel hundreds of kilometers to major medical centers.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of representatives of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Police and leaders of many health units in the region. Attending the event, BSCKII Trinh Ngoc Hiep - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health - said that the link between a leading organ transplant center in the country and a high-quality private health system is an inevitable trend. This cooperation will make practical contributions to improving on-site treatment capacity, effectively reducing the burden on the central level and expanding healing opportunities for people.
Comprehensive preparation for the first kidney transplants
To receive and master kidney transplantation techniques, Vinmec Nha Trang has made systematic preparations for many years, from human resource training to investment in technical infrastructure and quality management systems. Many doctors, nurses and technicians have been assigned to participate in in-depth training programs at major organ transplant centers across the country. In parallel with that, the hospital continuously upgrades its equipment system and testing capacity to meet the strict requirements of the organ transplantation field.
To date, Vinmec Nha Trang's testing center has met 25/28 in-depth test categories serving organ transplantation (03 in-depth gene tests on tuberculosis transferred to Vinmec Central Park for implementation). This is an important foundation for the hospital to gradually master the technique and implement the kidney transplant program according to high professional standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, MSc. Dr. Phan Quoc Dung - Director of Vinmec Nha Trang Hospital - shared: "Organ transplantation is always considered the pinnacle of modern medicine, requiring synchronous coordination of dozens of different specialties. Each successful transplant is not only a technical achievement, but also the revival of a life, the happiness of a family. Today's event is the starting point for us to gradually build Vinmec Nha Trang into a specialized medical center, contributing to improving the quality of people's health care and making positive contributions to the health tourism development strategy of Khanh Hoa province".
Assessing the reception capacity of the partner, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep - Director of Hue Central Hospital - expressed his belief in Vinmec Nha Trang's serious and methodical preparation process in terms of both human resources and facilities. He considers this a solid premise to ensure that the first kidney transplants here achieve successful results.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Thanh - Deputy General Director of Foreign Affairs, Vinmec Health System - emphasized, Vinmec's goal is to bring modern medical achievements closer to local people. "We not only receive a specialized technique but also receive the entire system of standards, processes and experiences to ensure maximum safety for patients," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanh affirmed.

The reception of kidney transplant technology transfer not only marks an important step in the development of Vinmec Nha Trang hospital, but also contributes to improving the specialized medical capacity of Khanh Hoa province and the South Central region. This will be the foundation for the hospital to continue to deploy complex treatment techniques in the future, opening up more healthy living opportunities for patients right in their homeland.
