The Outstanding Vietnam Bank Award (VOBA) is organized by the International Data Group (IDG) in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Research, the University of Economics and Law, the Vietnam Banking Association, and the Vietnam Digital Communications Association. The award selection committee consists of representatives from regulatory agencies and experts in the field of finance - banking and information technology serving the banking industry.
As one of the early banks to leave a "green" mark, MB has implemented numerous initiatives to promote sustainable development within and outside the bank. Notably, MB has developed a Sustainable Development Strategy for the Group, integrating business strategies with a vision and mission towards the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the national goals, guiding integrated activities in accordance with international standards for the environment, society, and governance in all operational and service activities of the bank.
“We focus on developing diverse green product policies that meet the criteria of 12 national green industry groups and are easily accessible to businesses,” said Mr. Pham Nhu Anh, MB's General Director. He also mentioned that the ratio of green lending to the bank's total lending portfolio is high, approximately 11% in 2023.
In addition, with the Charity App, MB is also known as a pioneering bank in digitalizing charity work, using technology to raise awareness and promote transparent and sustainable charitable behaviors. To date, the platform has attracted over 1.1 million members, providing utilities for nearly 1,200 organizations and individuals raising funds, organizing over 4,900 campaigns, and mobilizing over 71 trillion VND in donations, making it the most effective charity platform in the current time. Over the past time, MB has also impressed with its HiGreen ecosystem - initiating a green and sustainable lifestyle through small daily actions such as running or using the HiGreen card.
With the "Binh Minh Xanh" campaign "Transforming waste into playgrounds", MB has successfully converted the running kilometers of employees and the community into funds to improve self-built waste dumps into playgrounds. In 2023, the 1,000m2 Phuc Tan playground (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) - the first project to benefit from the campaign was completed to the joy of local residents. Or with the physical HiGreen credit card made from environmentally friendly materials and the non-physical card integrated on the MBBank app, MB and its partners deduct 1% of customers' spending from the card to contribute to environmental and social projects.
