At the center circle, SHB Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Do Quang Hien, gave brief instructions and directly demonstrated a move and then made a pass, during an internal sports event at SHB Vung Tau.
After the training session, Mr. Hien stayed to listen and chat with the female players: “Losing a penalty is just a matter of luck, the important thing is that everyone tried their best and played with passion”.Mr. Hien’s voice was full of “fire”, making everyone present forget that it was a training session for the internal movement and immersed in the joy of football.
The image of Mr. Hien appearing at a SHB amateur match is no longer strange. Last August, he was present at the final match of the SHB FC women's team competing in the 7-a-side Queen League S1 and won the championship with the same excitement as when SHB Da Nang won the First Division and returned to V-League 1.
If you type the phrase “Bau Hien in the stands” into the search bar, Google will return you about 3 million results. But the image of Mr. Hien watching a football match, or encouraging his office players… will usually not appear in the newspaper, but only in videos on social networks. That is love that is not in statistics.
The purest football lover is one who loves to play football and to watch football. Mr. Hien has put his hand on the hand circle of the most ordinary office football teams of SHB, as many times as he has put his hand on the hand circle of SHB Da Nang FC or Hanoi Club.
“SHB leaders all keep in mind: From the heart, reach far. To gain knowledge and wisdom, everything must come from the heart” - Mr. Nguyen Huy Tai, Deputy General Director of SHB, who was assigned by Mr. Hien to build and lead SHB FC, shared.
“Simply put, if you love a football team, you will take care of that team. If you love a branch, you will take care of the whole branch. The word “heart” here is your love. The more people love, the more they have scope, the more they can take care of people. The more love, the scope,” Mr. Tai emphasized.
At SHB, football has become a prominent culture, the love for it flows through the veins of every bank employee. That culture and spirit are ignited, aroused and spread by the head of the Bank, a passionate and pure football lover.
That love is also the reason Mr. Hien invested in football, with the desire to join hands to develop the country's football, contribute to the national team, and achieve achievements in the region. At the end of 2023, SHB Sport, a football tournament celebrating SHB’s 30th anniversary, set a “record” in the office football world: up to 70 SHB internal football teams from all over the country with nearly 1,400 male and female players competing. The women’s tournament alone had 22 teams participating with the qualifying round and final round being organized systematically.
Over the past decade, the vitality of Vietnamese football has not only come from professional clubs, but also from the strong development of grassroots football. Amateur tournaments are organized systematically and professionally on a large scale, with a large audience, and are broadcast live on multiple platforms. Office football tournaments such as SHB Sport also attract people who share the same passion and contribute greatly to the spirit of grassroots sports in general.
Banks and businesses not only support professional clubs, but also act as the nucleus for the football movement to spread strongly in society. The love of football and the spirit of this sport are the fuel that has fueled Vietnamese football over the years, towards a stronger and brighter future.
