HCMC pays tribute to legends and those who silently contribute

ĐÔNG DU |

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Ho Chi Minh City has conducted special reports to express gratitude to legends and those who have silently contributed.

The silent fires build the future

"Outstanding intellectuals - Building the future of Ho Chi Minh City" is a report to express deep gratitude to scientists, teachers, and doctors - those who have silently contributed and persistently nurtured the development journey of Ho Chi Minh City over the past half century.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony to honor 60 outstanding individuals, along with revolutionary soldiers and leaders, Ho Chi Minh City especially recognizes and honors genuine intellectuals - those who choose a quiet, yet enlightening path: Teaching, researching, medical examination and treatment, creating knowledge for the community.

The report depicts the portraits of intellectuals such as Professor - Doctor Nguyen Chan Hung, who fought against cancer all his life, bringing hope to life to tens of thousands of patients; or writer - researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu, who preserved the memories of the South through pages of books imbued with history and humanity. They are representatives of thousands of intellectuals who have been steadfastly creating a foundation for modern science, education and healthcare for the city.

Not only honoring the past, the report also connects tradition with the present with vivid images of the young intellectual generation: Students, engineers, inventors... are continuing the mission of serving the community every day, carrying the aspiration to innovate and reach international standards.

The report "Outstanding intellectuals - Building the future of Ho Chi Minh City" is a strong affirmation: Ho Chi Minh City always attaches importance to intellectuals, appreciates every contribution of people, and is determined to pursue the path of development with knowledge, creativity and aspiration for integration.

Legends coming from the fire

The report "Those who passed through the fire storm - Legend of Saigon - Heroic Gia Dinh" vividly recreated the resilient fighting memories and indomitable spirit of the children of Saigon - Gia Dinh in the past.

They are revolutionary soldiers, leaders, historical witnesses - the embodiment of a time of passion and the desire for peace.

In that memory flow, names like Nguyen Van Tau - Tu Cang, Pham Chanh Truc, Vu Viet Thanh... appear as living symbols of courage and confidence. They have silently fought, sacrificing their blood and bones in exchange for today's independence. A typical example is the battle to keep the Rach Chiec bridge, where 52 soldiers fell but determined to protect their strategic position for Dai Ngoai in the spring of 1975.

After the war, Ho Chi Minh City continued to enter a new war - against poverty, overcoming the consequences of war, launching the renovation. Leadership generations such as Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Minh Triet, Le Thanh Hai ... inherited the heroic tradition, drove the city to overcome the challenge to become an economic leader, the leading cultural - scientific - scientific and technological center in the country.

From the transformation to a socialist-oriented market economy model, to the achievements in infrastructure, urban areas and technology 4.0 - Ho Chi Minh City today has been shining as a symbol of dynamic, modern and humane development.

In addition, the report is also a message to today's young generation: Follow your father's will, equip yourself with knowledge, courage and enthusiasm to continue writing the brilliant development journey of the city named after Uncle Ho.
