From September 29 to 30, 2024, the first Beijing Fruit Festival with the theme “Vietnamese Fruits - Taste of Four Seasons” will be held in Beijing, China, at the Xinfadi Agricultural Products Distribution Center (Beijing's largest fruit wholesale market). The event is expected to have 13 booths to promote the brand and image of typical Vietnamese tropical fruits, as well as introduce and promote Vietnamese tourism products.
The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, with the support of the Embassy of Vietnam in China, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chinese cooperation partners, and was attended by many large Vietnamese agricultural enterprises as well as Chinese associations, importers and professional agricultural product suppliers.
During the event, businesses from both sides will conduct direct trade, experience products and discuss the export potential of Vietnamese fruits. This will be an important activity to implement the results of the General Secretary and President’s visit to Beijing, while strengthening trade cooperation between Vietnam and China.
According to statistics, in the first half of this year, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China recovered strongly, reaching nearly 95 billion USD.
Vietnam's import turnover from China reached 67 billion USD, a sharp increase of 35% over the same period last year; Vietnam's exports to China grew steadily to 27.8 billion USD, up 5.3% over the previous year. In the first half of the year, Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable export turnover reached 3.33 billion USD, of which exports to China reached 2.1 billion USD, accounting for 64%.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many consecutive years. The total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China accounts for 1/4 of Vietnam's total import-export turnover with the world.
At the same time, Vietnam is one of China's largest global trading partners and China's largest cooperative partner in ASEAN. From fruits to processed foods, Vietnam's agricultural products are firmly established in the Chinese market. In the future, Vietnam and China will strengthen cooperation across the entire industry chain in the fields of agricultural trade, investment and agricultural technology cooperation, bringing Vietnam-China agricultural cooperation to a new level.
