Interest rate fluctuations 1.10: Deposit interest rates still increase rapidly

Interest Rate October 1: The interest rate market recorded a simultaneous upward trend at banks.

Series of 9 banks paying interest over 6%/year

According to Lao Dong, in September 2024, the market had 12 banks increasing interest rates, including: Dong A Bank, OceanBank, VietBank, GPBank, Agribank, Bac A Bank, NCB, OCB, BVBank, PGBank, Nam A Bank; with the increasing trend mainly in short terms.

At the end of 2023, the market witnessed the general level of interest rates falling sharply to below 5.0%/year. Not only that, in the first weeks of 2024, interest rates continuously hit new lows, the lowest being 4.9%/year.

However, in the last months of 2024, interest rates recorded a sharp increase. Interest Rate increased beyond 6.0%/year at many banks.

The market currently has 9 banks listing interest rates from 6%/year without requiring deposit conditions.

NCB leads the market with an interest rate of 6.15%/year, term of 18-36 months.

At the 18-month term, Dong A Bank, HDBank, and OceanBank are currently maintaining a high interest rate "close to the peak" of 6.1%/year (18-month term).

Next is Bac A Bank with an interest rate of 6.05%/year (18-month term).

Finally, Saigonbank and BaovietBank with interest rate of 6.0%/year (18-month term).

At the 36-month term, NCB continues to lead with an interest rate of 6.15%/year.

OceanBank, Saigonbank, SHB, Dong A Bank all maintain interest rates at 6.1%/year.

Bac A Bank pays interest rate of 6.05%/year for 36-month term.

BVBank, BaovietBank, OCB are currently listing interest rates of 6.0%/year for this term.

Special Interest Rate up to 9.5%/year

PVCombank applies the highest interest rate in the market, up to 9.5%/year for customers depositing for 12-13 months with an amount of 2,000 billion VND or more.

DongA Bank maintains a "special interest rate" at 7.5%/year for a 13-month term, 2.2%/year higher than the normal interest rate, with a balance of VND200 billion or more.

MSB pays an interest rate of 7.0%/year to customers with a minimum balance of VND500 billion, deposited for a term of 12-13 months. In addition, MSB also has a preferential interest rate policy for regular customers, 0.3-0.5% higher than online interest rates.

HDBank listed interest rates of 8.1%/year for 13-month terms and 7.7%/year for 12-month terms, applied to deposits of VND500 billion or more, with interest rates 2.3%-2.5%/year higher than counter interest rates.
