Major campaign to search for missing body of Hong Kong model

On February 28, police will search the landfill in Tan Gioi area to search for the missing body parts of the Hong Kong (China) model murdered Abby Choi.

SCMP reported that more than 100 police officers will search a landfill in the New Territories (New Zealand) on February 28 to continue searching for the missing body parts of the murdered model Abby Choi Tin-Mush (Thai Thien Phuong).

A source from SCMP said that the large-scale campaign was carried out after reviewing security cameras near the scene of the case in a village in Tai Po district (Dai Bo) showing a suspect moving bags from the apartment where Abby Choi's body parts were found to a nearby garbage collection area.

The video recorded the movements on February 22, a day after the 28-year-old model was reported missing.

A skull and some ribs believed to belong to the victim were discovered in a large pot of soup confiscated in a house in Lung Mei Tsuen on February 24. The woman's leg was also found in the house. Only the victim's body and hand have not been found.

It could be the bags containing her clothes, the victims body parts or other evidence, the person in the case said. He said that the collected garbage was transferred to the Northeast Tan Gioi landfill in Ta Kwu Ling.

According to the source, the police have contacted relevant authorities to narrow down the search area at the scene.

An excavator could be deployed to dig into the area before the police conduct a search, the source said.

Over the weekend, police searched a cemetery in Tseung Kwan O and a sewer in Lung Mei Tsuen, but to no avail.

Abby Choi's family members are expected to identify the bodies at the Fu Shan morgue in Sha Tin on February 28.

Four former family members arrested for murder have been detained without guarantees. These four men appeared in court on February 27 on charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.

Choi's ex-husband, Alex Kwong Kong-chi, his parents and brother were escorted to Kowloon court a few days after the brutal murder.

Kwong (28 years old), his father Kwong Kau (65 years old) and brother Anthony Kwong Kong-kit (31 years old) were accused of killing Abby Choi on February 21.

Jenny Li Sui-heung's mother (63) faces charges of contesting the justice process for destroying evidence against her during a police investigation on February 23.

The court learned that Anthony Kwong was sync with Abby Choi and lived with his retired father in a government-subsidized apartment in Tsuen Wan at the time of the murder. Her mother is also retired, and their ex-husband phong Choi is unemployed and living a seclusion.

The defendants did not express any clear reaction when the court secretary read the allegations. The defendants were not required to speak, in addition to being asked to confirm that they understood the allegations.

District Attorney Brian Lai Tak-ki has filed a request for a 10-week postponement for further investigation, including forensic checks of evidence seized from a village house and an investigation into the defendants' mobile conversation records.

He said that Alex Kwong was also wanted by the district court for a 2015 theft, where he was released on bail three months before trial.

The ex-husband, who lives in a luxury apartment in Kowloon, was arrested with six-digit cash and a watch worth millions of dollars at Tung Chung ferry terminal on February 25.

There are signs that the defendant is preparing to fly from Hong Kong, the prosecutor said.

Associate Justice Peony Wong Nga-yan scheduled the next hearing on May 8 and took Alex Kwong to the district court on February 28.

The trio face charges of murder without a release bond, as murder suspects can only file a lawsuit with a Supreme Court judge.

Li's temporary released request was rejected after further protests.

A fifth suspect had been arrested earlier in connection with the case. The authorities believe that the 47-year-old woman, surnamed Ng - who has not yet been charged - rented an apartment in Tsim Sha Tsui to hide from sync Choi's ex-husband before he was arrested. Until the evening of February 27, this person was still being detained for questioning.
