Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Article 21 of the Trade Union Law 2024 (effective from July 2025) stipulates the rights of trade union members as follows:
1. Request the Trade Union to represent and protect legitimate rights and interests when they are violated.
2. Be informed, discuss, propose and vote on the work of the Union.
3. To be propagated and disseminated about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws related to trade unions, workers and trade union regulations.
4. Nominate, nominate, and elect the leadership body of the Trade Union according to the provisions of this Law and the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.
5. Question union leaders at all levels and recommend disciplinary action against union officials who commit violations according to the provisions of the Vietnam Trade Union Charter.
6. Receive free legal support from the Trade Union on laws on trade unions, labor, employment, social insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance, occupational safety and hygiene, cadres, civil servants and public employees.
7. Receive advice, guidance, and support from the Trade Union in finding a job, learning a trade, improving professional qualifications, expertise, and vocational skills; receive visits and assistance in case of illness, maternity, difficulties, or misfortune, and enjoy other care and welfare activities carried out by the Trade Union.
8. Participate in cultural, sports, sightseeing and tourism activities organized or co-organized by the Union.
9. Propose to the Trade Union to recommend agencies, organizations, units, enterprises, cooperatives, and cooperative unions on the implementation of regimes, policies, and laws for employees.
10. Enjoy social housing rental policy of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
11. Be commended and rewarded for achievements in labor, production and trade union activities.
12. Other rights as prescribed by relevant laws and the Charter of Vietnam Trade Union.
Thus, the rights of union members are stipulated as above.
