How many days off does a mother get to care for a sick child?

Article 44 of the Law on Social Insurance 2024 (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates the time to enjoy the regime when taking care of a sick child as follows:

1. The maximum time to enjoy the regime when taking care of a sick child in a year (from January 1 to December 31) for each child is 20 days if the child is under 3 years old; maximum is 15 days if the child is from 3 years old to under 7 years old.

2. In case both father and mother participate in compulsory social insurance, the time to enjoy the regime when taking care of a sick child of each person is according to the provisions in Clause 1 of this Article.

3. The time off work to enjoy the regime when taking care of a sick child as prescribed in this Article is calculated in working days, excluding holidays, New Year's Day, and weekly days off.

Thus, depending on the age of the sick child, the mother is entitled to leave according to the above regulations.
