aespa wins big with 3 Daesangs at the 2024 MMA music awards

On the evening of November 30, the 16th Melon Music Awards (MMA) was held in Seoul.

MMA is one of the major music awards in Korea, which is of interest to Kpop fans. This award honors the best artists and music products of the year, mainly based on achievements on Melon - the leading digital music platform in Korea.

To be eligible for this year's award, musical works must have been released between November 2, 2023 and October 30, 2024.

Most categories are based on 60% downloads and streams, 20% judges' ratings, and 20% audience votes. The Millions Top 10 category is determined by 80% downloads and streams, and 20% audience votes.

At MMA 2024, aespa had a great season when they won a total of 7 awards. Of which, 3/4 of the most prestigious Daesang (grand prize) trophies include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Supernova) and Album of the Year (Armageddon album).

aespa has now tied NewJeans' record as one of the two 4th generation Kpop groups to win the most Daesangs in history, with 10 trophies.

The remaining Daesang of MMA 2024 - Record of the Year belongs to (G)I-DLE. The group was also honored in 2 other categories.
