Romantic comedy “No Gain No Love” written by screenwriter Kim Hye Young of “Her Secret Love”.
The film revolves around Son Hae Young (Shin Min Ah) - a woman who fakes her marriage because she doesn't want to lose money or promotion opportunities and Kim Ji Wook (Kim Young Dae) - a part-time employee at a convenience store, who accepts being a groom as a part-time job.
Officially aired since the evening of August 26, “No Gain No Love” has now aired halfway. Although it does not have to compete with many rivals, the viewership rating of the show is only average, in the rating range of 3.673%-4.967%.
It's not hard to see that Shin Min Ah's new work still follows the typical romantic comedy motifs of Korean cinema: fake weddings, abandoned parents, office romance, enemies in a narrow alley, adultery, illegitimate children... Instead of hiding the details, the screenwriter reveals everything to the audience.
As a famous actress in romantic comedy, Shin Min Ah had no trouble with the role of Son Hae Young - an ambitious, practical and strong girl. However, for some viewers, Kim Woo Bin's girlfriend's new character is somewhat similar to Yoon Hye Jin's role in the movie "Cha-cha-cha of the Sea Village".
The reason is because both characters give the initial impression of being unapproachable, selfish, and calculating, but the more you get to know them, the more you realize that they are emotional and thoughtful of others. For example, Hae Young's fake wedding was largely because she was worried about her mother's health and couldn't wait too long, and she hoped that she could meet relatives she hadn't seen for a long time.
Meanwhile, Kim Young Dae - the male lead of the film, although having the advantage of appearance, his acting is always a weakness. In this film, despite his great efforts, or even being favored by the production team when always appearing in "handsome from every angle" scenes, the actor's stiff expression is still something that viewers criticize.
Despite the somewhat childish details, such as the female lead's thoughts of taking revenge on her ex-lover by breaking up the wedding with ridiculous actions, or the male supporting character Bok Gyu Hyun (Lee Sang Yi) being the CEO of a corporation, but having impulsive thoughts, even fainting and having to be hospitalized after discovering his mother likes to read adult novels... the film still has plus points from the supporting couple.
Nam Ja Yeon (Han Ji Hyun) filed a lawsuit against Bok Gyu Hyun after learning that he was a malicious commenter, which started their relationship. The chance meeting, Gyu Hyun's sincere apology, and his efforts to take Ja Yeon to the hospital when she fainted in the middle of the road were all enhanced with humor through Lee Sang Yi and Han Ji Hyun's charming acting.
Later this year, the two stars will return in the movie “Spice Up Our Love” – a spin-off and the name of the novel Nam Ja Yeon wrote in the movie “No Gain No Love”.
