Singer Duy Manh sues a car company for a 5 billion VND car that caught fire

ĐÔNG DU |

Singer Duy Manh said that he sued a car company for a 5 billion VND car that caught fire but the two sides did not agree on compensation.

On April 22, singer Duy Manh shared that he needed a clear answer to why a car worth more than 5 billion VND could suddenly catch fire.

According to singer Duy Manh, the incident happened in 2023, when his newly purchased car in 2020 suddenly caught fire while parked on the second floor of an apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City.

The singer said that at that time, the car had turned off the engine, turned off the power source, and the hood was locked and could not be opened. Duy Manh added that he called the sales staff to come and support via the hotline but no one resolved it.

Due to the widespread fire, at risk of other vehicles and the safety of the whole building, the apartment management board called the police. After completely extinguishing, the car was pulled to the parking force by the police in Thu Duc City and conducted sealing. The police then determined the vehicle was burnt due to electric shock.

The insurance company base on the inspection results to compensate the singer the amount of about 2.9 billion, calculated according to the value of the old car. However, the car company refused to be responsible. After re -assessment, the company said that the cause of the fire was caused by rodents, because there were signs of mouse decomposition and garbage in the engine compartment.

Duy Manh said that he found the above conclusion unreasonable and decided to file a lawsuit in court.

Due to the performance schedule, the lawyer will represent singer Duy Manh to attend the next mediation session on April 25, at the Go Vap District People's Court, Ho Chi Minh City.
