What are your thoughts after attending the meeting with 200 artists and writers with General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders?
- There were many thoughts and emotions coming at the same time. At the meeting with 200 artists, General Secretary To Lam showed that the General Secretary understood and shared the difficulties and hardships, and at the same time highly appreciated the role and position of artists in many fields and professions. That made me and the artists feel very emotional, we felt like we were fueled with fire and strength to strive and contribute more.
What do you personally think about preserving national cultural identity in the context of Vietnamese music today being heavily influenced by Kpop?
- I think that being influenced by world music is an inevitable and inevitable movement. In the journey of development, any music industry will follow the same direction, the musical life itself will gradually eliminate what is "fashionable" and "temporary" and retain the eternal values of identity.
Vietnamese music coexists with many musical genres with different lives and currents. Among them, revolutionary music, folk music, and contemporary folk music still have a strong vitality alongside youth music.
Personally, I, like many other artists, always have love and respect for revolutionary music, folk music, music with folk melodies, praising the love of the homeland. Every time I sing revolutionary songs, I am always moved and proud.
At the meeting of 200 artists and artists of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Party and State, I was able to sing a new song composed by musician Do Hong Quan titled “Aspiration to Rise Up”. The song clearly expresses the spirit of patriotism, love for national culture, and the country’s aspirations in the new era. I heard a lot of applause after singing this song.
I believe in the vitality of history and national cultural identity that will last forever in every field of Vietnamese culture and art.
After meeting with the General Secretary and leaders of the Party and State, do you dream of organizing your own concert?
- I always have 1,000 ideas with music. After the meeting, I became even more determined and wanted to do many projects. Of course, I always dreamed of a concert. Even though I know that to organize a concert like that, it will cost a lot of money and require a lot of investment. But no one taxes dreams, you have to dare to dream to make your dreams come true.
Looking at the performance market at the end of 2024, we can see great potential and prospects. When producers and businesses invest money, we can clearly see how good Vietnamese artists are and how professional and advanced the performance organization technology in Vietnam is. When technology has developed like this, when the organization stages are not inferior to international ones, there is no reason why an artist like me would not dream of having my own concert.
Is the secret to your success, with the song "Rebirth" that is currently causing a stir, hard work and perseverance?
- The success of the 2 shows Anh Trai cannot be denied. All the artists participating in the 2 shows are talented, they also tried very hard, made efforts and worked hard.
I think we just had a little difference in our choices. At that time, I chose to continue with my personal product because I already had the idea and the plan. At a more suitable time, maybe I would have accepted the invitation of the show Anh Trai to try my hand.
The new year is coming, I wish all of us to be steadfast and diligent to achieve success in our fields.
