However, contrary to viewers' expectations of an attractive work that executes justice but follows an action-packed, humorous direction, in part 2, the film was criticized for going astray due to a lack of unexpected details and abusing exaggerated, humorous details.
For example, in episode 11, when Park Kyung Soon faces a life-threatening danger that forces Kim Hae Il to make an impossible decision, unexpected allies So Kim (Baek Ji Won) and Cha Han (Jeon Sung Woo) intervene with incomprehensible attacks with loud roars and the ability to throw cards like a magician.
Stoo (Korea) newspaper commented that "The Enthusiastic Priest 2" is reaching a dead end before the final episode.
In addition to making Sister Kim's past and Father Han's new abilities appear unreasonable, the film also makes viewers bored with the meaningless musical performances of the police chief and the finger puppet performance of the new captain.
The scene where the plane door mysteriously falls from the sky in an important scene, making the characters ponder about justice, is also a minus point, because it does not bring consistency with the main theme of the film - exposing a dangerous drug gang, led by Kim Hong Sik (Sung Joon).
According to Korean newspapers, the film's trade-off of story depth for cheap laughter and a fake, predictable script is destroying the essence of the famous series.
“For fans who have waited five years, the disjointed plot and childish humor of Part 2 feels like a betrayal. What they wanted was the deep storytelling and justice that defined the series, but “The Fiery Priest 2” does nothing but disappoint,” Stoo wrote.
