Opportunities for young people
Vietnamese films are increasingly attracted by many producers, the need for human resources is also increasing, especially always needing new faces to attract audiences, who are familiar with a few names on the big screen.
In recent years, directors have made efforts to find and introduce new elements. Names that were once new to the public such as Thanh My, Tran Nghia, Khanh Van, Hoang Ha have to make their mark. Many names have also changed their lives thanks to participating in films. From a TikToker, Tin Nguyen, after participating in Flip Side 7: A D wish by director Ly Hai, became an actor loved by the audience for his realistic acting.
Vietnamese cinema is an opportunity for young stars to search for and affirm their names. People in the industry think that finding a new face suitable for the role, knowing how to act is a challenge and names like Tin Nguyen or Thanh My are not many. Using a new person is an adventure, causing many filmmakers to worry about production progress as well as the risk of project failure if the new person is not performing well.
Challenges
At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, Vietnamese cinema will witness many new films released, especially the participation of brand new names on the big screen.
Thuy Tien's leading role in "Linh Mieu" is a typical example. The producer said that the beauty queen also had to go through the casting rounds like many other candidates. In the first time touching the film industry, he showed a transformation when playing an actor. However, due to lack of acting experience, the beauty queen "slipped" in the second half of the story, when the character's psychology had a complex change.
Thuy Tien also confirmed her participation in the film "Chot don" (expected to be released in March 2025) by the director duo Bao Nhan and Namcito. Thuy Tien's acceptance of a new role shows her potential in the film industry, but besides that, the challenge for this beauty queen is not small in improving her acting.
Singer Phuong My Chi's role as My Tien in the movie "House of Ancestors" is currently showing in theaters and is attracting the attention of audiences. Although this is not her first time participating in a movie, in this project, the female singer plays the main role for the first time and has more screen time than the 2014 film "Hai Lua". Despite her efforts in acting, Phuong My Chi's performance was only at the level of her role, not really excellent. Because in many scenes, the actress acted awkwardly and lacked experience.
Thanks to its appeal and good message from "House of Ancestors", the project has surpassed the 100 billion VND mark. objectively, the new faces have made many efforts when participating in the film industry, but their acting has many negative points. The challenge here is their progress through new roles, not stagnating and losing attraction in their first roles.
Like actor Phu Thinh of "The Heart of the Light", despite being a face that was expected to have promises on the big screen. However, his performance in "The Heart Light" was criticized as a disaster. Phu Thinh once acted in the movie "When We Are Two Lads" but in this comeback, he was still judged to have made no progress.
