And in fact, there are few clusters of projects in Vietnam or areas that are being constructed at such a rapid pace.

Accordingly, Phu Quoc International Airport, although it has only started construction since July 2025, items such as building a new runway No. 2, VIP terminal, and T2 passenger terminal are at the finish line. Difficulties and problems have been basically resolved.
According to the representative of the construction unit, with a speed of pressing 700 large piles per month, by the end of November, terminal T2 had completed 85% of the rough structure. VIP Station has completed 100% of the rough structure and steel structure. Runway No. 2 reached about 30% of the volume. After only four months of construction, the entire terminal block has been constructed to the 4th floor, aiming to be completed by March 2027. The project is expected to be completed after only 18 months of construction, reaching a record speed in the aviation industry.
If compared with Changi Airport (Singapore) from the start of implementation to the first operation of 6 years (usually large airport projects can take up to 10 years), it can be seen that this is a rapid construction progress, helping the project to be ready to serve APEC 2027. And the comparison of the construction speed of Phu Quoc's APEC projects with the speed of light is completely reasonable.
It is known that the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project has a total capital of nearly 22,000 billion VND, with a implementation period of 2025-2027. According to the approved plan, the airport will reach level 4E according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), allowing it to receive wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 747, 787 or Airbus A350. The project has a total area of 1,050 hectares, increasing the airport's exploitation capacity to 20 million passengers per year, 4.5 times the current capacity.
Changi Airport Group - the operator of Changi - Singapore airport will take on the operational consulting stage. The airport does not have to apply the most modern technologies in the world, including the overall operating model, biometric systems for seamless - contactless routes, modern luggage handling systems, along with technologies for automating parking lots, underground fuel supply and remote control pipes, towards the leading smart airport standard in the region, giving the processing time only 15-20 seconds/person.

Another key project that is also being focused on is the APEC Conference Organizing Center project, with a total investment of VND 21,860 billion. This is a symbolic project serving national political and foreign affairs goals. The project has a scale of 16.06 hectares including APEC park, exhibition center and multi-purpose theater.
The overall progress of the two main items, the conference center and the multi-purpose theater, is maintained at about 33% of the total construction volume. In particular, the Conference Center in Sub-area S3 has completed 100% of the foundation and reached 31% of the rough construction. The completion of the absolute foundation is an important premise to ensure the technical requirements for the giant columnless structure. The Conference Center has a total floor area of 157,300 m2, including 4 floors above ground and 1 basement. The center's highlight is the 81m spanside ballroom, 11,050 m2, recognized as the largest in the world today, surpassing the Caesars Forum in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, the completion of the multi-purpose theater (Area S2) also reached 95% of the foundation and 20.5% of the rough construction. Both items will have completed the steel structure on January 31, 2026, the exterior will be completed on June 30, 2026 and the interior will be completed on January 31, 2027.
The multi-purpose theater has a roof area of 17,200 m2, including 6 upper floors and 1 basement with a capacity of 4,094 seats. The project is designed by leading US consulting firms such as SOM and Apeiro in a circular shape - a symbol of heaven placed next to the Square Conference Center symbolizing the Earth.
Last November, after inspecting, inspecting and working with the People's Committee of An Giang province on the implementation of projects to serve the APEC 2027 Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung assessed: "With a lot of work, difficult weather conditions, labor, construction and transportation, the projects are being implemented at an unprecedentedly fast pace".
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, "the two projects assigned to Sun Group are very good. After 2 months of checking, I was surprised. I am very assured about the progress with the efforts of all agencies, including investors and contractors.
In addition, other projects will be implemented in the coming time, including: the 19.26km long provincial road DT 9.75, with a width of 62m, at least 6 lanes, with a total investment of VND 1,632 billion; the urban metro line with a length of about 18km, connecting from Phu Quoc International Airport to the APEC Conference Center, including 6 modern stations (1 underpass, 5 on the ground)... are also about to be implemented, helping to complete the urban infrastructure picture for Phu Quoc, not only serving the 2027 APEC conference but also being a lever for this special zone to accelerate development in the new period./.
