Previously, at the end of February 2024, artists at the District 8 Artists Nursing Home, Ho Chi Minh City moved to a new residence at the Thi Nghe Nursing Center. Among them, Mac Can and Huynh Thanh Tra are freelance artists who asked to live with them.
Artist Mac Can once shared with reporters that the reason he wanted to apply to live at Thi Nghe Nursing Center was because he needed peace and quiet in his old age and did not want to bother his children.
Currently, he has adapted well to life in his new home. Despite his old age, artist Mac Can said he still maintains an optimistic spirit and positive thinking. He is always taken care of by medical staff at the center, so he is at ease.
Currently, artist Mac Can still maintains the habit of writing books. He sets a goal to publish a new book next year.
As for acting, although it is currently difficult for him to walk, Mac Can said he still has passion for the profession and is ready to accept suitable roles if his health allows.
On April 18, actor Phung Ngoc - who played the role of Co in the movie "Dat Phuong Nam", visited artist Mac Can at Thi Nghe Nursing Center.
Phung Ngoc shared that when he and a few friends visited, artist Mac Can did not recognize them. He thought they were employees of the center.
However, after Phung Ngoc introduced himself as "the Stork" in the movie "Southern Land", Mac Can laughed out loud and chatted with him. In the clip posted by the actor, Mac Can was still healthy and comfortably chatted with his junior.
At Thi Nghe Nursing Home, artist Ngoc Dang is the oldest person. She is 97 years old this year but is still healthy.
She had previously suffered a fall injury and fractured her pelvis. She was admitted to the center's infirmary for treatment.
After a period of treatment, her health is now good and her injuries are gradually recovering. Artist Trinh Kim Chi - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association - recently visited artists at the Thi Nghe Nursing Center. She said she met and talked with artist Ngoc Dang.
Sharing with reporters on September 5, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi said that although artist Ngoc Dang is old, her spirit is still good, her health is still guaranteed, and she is not sick much.
As for Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, before moving to Thi Nghe Nursing Home, she confided to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper that she missed the District 8 Artist Nursing Home because it was her home. The female artist said that at that time, she had not yet adapted to her new place.
However, after 6 months at Thi Nghe Nursing Center, artist Dieu Hien said she is happy because her current life is very good and she receives care and help from everyone.
She misses the stage terribly and still wants to perform for the audience if she has the chance.
People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi added that artist Mac Can and other artists are living a good life at the center. The artists are all regularly monitored for their health and are eating well.
