On October 20, at the Conference summarizing the implementation of the Master Plan for investment in preserving, restoring and promoting the value of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town associated with the development of Hoi An City and sustainable tourism for the period 2012 - 2025, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - concluded the implementation of the Plan for investment in preserving, restoring and promoting the value of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town.
Mr. Cuong said that raising the issue of preserving and promoting heritage values in the new context, especially implementing the two-level local government, received much attention from delegates. Initial difficulties arising from reality; concerns about the risk of heritage abandonment and heritage space division according to administrative areas were noted by delegates.
However, many delegates also emphasized that in the new development space of Da Nang city - as the development center of the Central region - with large resources in infrastructure, engineering, technology, human resources and the ability to mobilize finance, it will create a launching pad, opening up many prospects to promote heritage conservation and promotion activities with breakthroughs and reaching new heights in the coming period.
The issues raised at the conference urgently require the development of a new Master Plan for heritage in the next phase. Therefore, the People's Committee of Da Nang City needs to direct research and proposals to the Government to be able to soon implement this task.
According to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in addition to receiving the opinions of delegates at the conference, the planning task needs to pay attention to inheriting achievements after more than two decades since UNESCO recognized Hoi An Ancient Town as a world cultural heritage; inheriting the basic orientations that Hoi An city and Quang Nam province have built around the axis: Ecology - culture - tourism; updating new trends and recommendations of UNESCO; regulations of the Law on Cultural Heritage.
Regarding the planning period, it is necessary to pay attention to the period of specialized planning for the country, area and city to determine the connectivity and make good use of investment resources for heritage in the future. Reversal
