As of the morning of May 6, according to Box Office Vietnam, "Detective Kien: Ky an Khong Khong" has reached the revenue mark of 142 billion VND. This is a new success for director Victor Vu.
Previously, Victor Vu's film "The Last Wife" was criticized for its flawed script, empty messages, and the film "smuggled" to reach the 100 billion VND revenue mark.
Compared to The Last Wife, the film Detective Kien: Ky an Khong Tan Dau has made better progress in terms of script, theme handling as well as personal cinematic language of director Victor Vu.
Victor Vu shared that this is the genre of film he is passionate about. Detective Kien: The Unforgettable Project also shows Victor Vus strengths, the relatively tight and reasonable arrangement and investment of the script. The setting is full of aesthetics.
However, the film still has its drawbacks. In particular, Dinh Ngoc Diep's acting is a weakness of "Detective Kien: Ky an khong dau". Compared to the female cast in the film, Dinh Ngoc Diep is the "workshop" best.
The female characters who played a key role in the unheard case of Inspector Kien all had brilliant scenes, natural dialogue, and monologue like Anh Pham (as Tuyet) or Tiktoker Tin Nguyen (as Mui).
Mr. Pham plays a villain and has had surprising performances, in which the conflict with Russia on the banks of the stream helps Mr. Pham score points.
People's Artist My Uyen (playing Mrs. Vuong) also has impressive scenes, especially the scene of the confrontation with Hai Man and Nga at the end of the film.
Compared to the female characters, Dinh Ngoc Diep's Hai Man is the longest, with the most screen time in the film, but lacks valuable scenes. To choose the most impressive scene of the character Hai Man, it will be more difficult to choose the best scene of Tuyet, or Mrs. Vuong.
Hai Man followed Inspector Kien (Quoc Huy) throughout the journey to solve the case. The character appears so much that it brings a sense of surplus. Sometimes, Hai Man seems to intentionally "overwhelm" the male lead Kien, when he has a lot of dialogue, exaggerated dialogue, and appears "not inferior to the younger sister" with Kien.

Dinh Ngoc Diep's lines are a weakness that makes her lines not as impressive as Tuyet or People's Artist My Uyen. Hai Man's performance in many scenes was somewhat forced and unnatural.
Director Victor Vu himself said when sharing about his wife, he once commented frankly to his wife, "I am very actors". However, this weakness was not optimally overcome by Dinh Ngoc Diep, because Hai Man is the longest-running role in the film.
Having to "nurture" his mentality and "play" for a long time has exposed Dinh Ngoc Diep's weaknesses.
"Detective Kien: Ky an khong dau" was released when the genre of detective and solve the case reached its peak in world cinema such as the US and Korea. The audience can now enjoy the top works of this genre simply and easily on digital platforms.
Perhaps, that partly makes "Detective Kien: Ky an Khong Khong" an easy-to-guess script. The way the script is deployed with characters is also lacking in character, making this a "high-powered" film by Victor Vu.
