According to Korean media, filming of KBS's "The First Night With The Duke" was recently halted, due to a complaint sent to Andong City Hall.
An architect visiting the Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy discovered the film crew hammering nails into the pillars of the monument. Notably, the Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy in Andong has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. The architect, upon witnessing the incident, voiced his complaint.
KBS later apologized and said that the production team was given permission to film late last year and that during the installation of the props, a passerby said that it was impossible to hammer in the nail and hang the props at the protected site.
KBS acknowledged the severity of the situation and expressed regret for what happened at the filming location. The station stated that it is working to confirm the exact information about the incident and come up with the best plan for recovery efforts.
However, KBS's apology did not resolve public anger. On January 3, it was reported that a civilian filed a complaint against KBS at the Andong Police Station for violating the National Heritage Act, demanding severe punishment.
“The First Night With The Duke” is a romantic comedy fantasy film, telling the story of an ordinary female college student who suddenly time-travels into the supporting character of a novel.
Seohyun (SNSD) plays Cha Sun Chaek, a minor character in the novel. She is the daughter of a wealthy family, possessing great status and power. Her dream is to live a peaceful and comfortable life, but the story takes a 180-degree turn when the soul of university student “K” suddenly enters her body and accidentally spends the night with the male lead.
2PM's Taecyeon will play the male lead Yi Beon, a royal family member favored by the king. He is handsome, cold, and good at martial arts. However, Yi Beon hides painful scars from his past caused by countless strange rumors. But despite his cold personality, Yi Beon is very loyal to the girl he loves.
The film also stars other actors such as Kwon Han Sol, Seo Bum June, Ji Hye Won.
However, the female lead Seohyun is currently on hiatus from filming due to an injury that occurred during filming. She had to use a walking stick while taking on the role of MC for the KBS Drama Awards held on December 31, 2024.
