Hung Vuong's Commemoration Day 2025 people will have a day off on Monday, April 7 (ie March 10 of the lunar calendar) combined with the two previous weekends of April 5 and 6. The 3-day holiday is completely suitable for planning to explore islands near Ho Chi Minh City.
Here are 3 suggested islands that are not too crowded with tourists during the holidays, suitable for tourism exploration or relaxation.
Cu lao Cau (Binh Thuan)
Cu Cau is also known as Hon Cau, a pristine destination in Phuoc The commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province. Currently, there is only 1 restaurant on the island, 2 households live and use solar power.
From Ho Chi Minh City, tourists take a bus to Lien Huong Port, then buy a canoe ticket to Cu lao Cau. The time to take a bus is about 6 hours, the time to take a canoe to the island is about 20 minutes.
There are not many places to stay on the island, mainly in military posts and Hon Cau marine conservation station. Tourists who want to stay on the island overnight should bring tents.
Another option is to stay overnight at a hotel or resort in Phan Thiet to take a day tour at Cu lao Cau.

In addition to buying a day tour, visitors can hire local tour guides or freely have fun with activities such as camping on the beach, sup, swimming, walking to explore the island's nature, watching the sunrise, sunset, organizing BBQ parties...
Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau)
From the end of March, in addition to buying air tickets, tourists from Ho Chi Minh City have the option to take the high-speed train running directly from Con Dao.
There are currently 2 passenger transport units operating from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, Phu Quoc Express (a boat departing from Saigon Port, District 4) and Thang Long (a boat departing from Hiep Phuoc Port, Nha Be District).
The travel time of a high-speed train from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao is about 3 - 5 hours.
Con Dao owns many beautiful beaches, national parks, sea turtle reserves and many historical relics forming many attractive tours for both children and adults.

Tourists who like to explore can join a coral diving tour, national forest trek to learn about the tropical forest ecosystem, sea turtle release tour, boat ride to neighboring small islands...
Resorts enthusiasts have options such as high-class resorts, immersed in nature but no less amenities.
Hai Tai Island (Kien Giang)
With more than 16 large and small islands, Hai Ta island is actually another name for the Ha Tien archipelago about 28km from the Ha Tien coast. From Ho Chi Minh City, tourists take a bus to Ha Tien and then catch a boat to the island. The bus trip takes more than 6 hours, the train trip takes about 1.5 hours.
April in the Kien Giang sea area is still in the dry season, the weather is suitable for traveling and swimming to explore the islands.
Famous for its wild and mysterious beauty from its name to its scenery, Hai Tac Island is associated with the stories of beach bandits from the 18th century. Currently, visitors can go to the island to visit Hon Tre Lon, Hon Tre Van, Hon Doi Moi... Most especially the experience of checking in at national sovereign stele on Hon Tre Lon.

To learn about the lives of islanders, experience fishermen's homestays, follow them fishing for squid, night fishing or diving to see coral...
