Along every street corner, there is a red glow of fireworks, peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, lanterns, parallel sentences... Many foreign tourists are amazed by the colorful streets. Some visitors make plans early to fully celebrate Lunar New Year in Vietnam.
Julie, a tourist from Belgium, arrived in Hanoi after 2 weeks in Da Nang, and shared that she was overwhelmed by the bustling and colorful atmosphere of Hang Ma Street. And before coming to Vietnam, she had planned to celebrate Tet here.
“I am very excited that I will be celebrating Tet in Hanoi. I hope that during this trip I can explore and learn more about the traditional customs of the Vietnamese people during Tet. I will contact the reception at my hotel and find out some places where I can celebrate Tet to the fullest,” she said.
As for Courtney and Dylan's family from the US, this year will be a special year because they will celebrate the traditional New Year with their family living in Vietnam.
“I miss my family so much,” said Courtney. “I think this year will be special for me because I will see my family again. During this Tet holiday, I will spend all my time enjoying the atmosphere with my family and relatives.”
Dylan also shared that he was looking forward to meeting his maternal family. This was also his first time in Vietnam and celebrating an important Vietnamese holiday. The male tourist was eager to learn more about Vietnamese culture, especially during Tet.
“Tet is an important and sacred occasion in Vietnamese culture. I really look forward to experiencing the traditions, customs, and typical dishes of Tet.
This will definitely be a memorable and meaningful experience for me. I also bought some lucky money here to give to my family members,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mhairi, a tourist from Scotland, plans to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday in Hoi An: “I am really looking forward to seeing the fireworks and seeing what people will decorate for Tet. The decorations here are really beautiful. I have also bought some pretty items as gifts for my family.”
Celebrating Lunar New Year in Vietnam is also an experience included in many tours for foreign visitors during the early spring.
