Recently, Kim Woo Bin and Kim Sung Kyun, the two main actors in Netflix's "Officer Black Belt", appeared as guests on the talk show "Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup".
During the show, Kim Woo Bin chose to drink non-alcoholic beer and shared his experience fighting cancer.
In 2017, Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and made a full recovery in 2019.
Recalling his battle with cancer, Kim Woo Bin shared: "I am a positive person, someone who always tries to find hope in every situation." But he received a big shock when the doctor informed him about his health condition.
“It was like a scene in a drama, when the doctor suddenly said: “If time is short, you only have 6 months to live”. I was shocked and scared, I wished it was just a dream” - Kim Woo Bin confessed.
However, despite facing a scary situation, Kim Woo Bin also expressed optimism during treatment: “But even then, I never thought, ‘What if I can’t make it?’ That thought never crossed my mind.”
Kim Woo Bin explained that although it was not easy to maintain a positive state right away, he continuously tried to keep his spirits up during treatment.
He tried to think of it as if God was giving him time to rest after 10 years of a busy life.
The treatment period was painful, but Kim Woo Bin was very grateful for the people who always supported and cheered him on.
"So many people, just because they recognized my face, supported me and prayed for me. I believe that support gave me strength.
I want to convey the prayers I receive to as many people as possible," the actor said.
In 2022, after many years of hiatus to treat his illness, Kim Woo Bin returned on both the big and small screens, with the works "Alienoid: Time Travel" and "Our Blues".
Kim Woo Bin recently appeared as the lead in Netflix's new crime action film "Officer Black Belt".
In “Officer Black Belt,” Kim Woo Bin plays martial arts prodigy Lee Jung Do, who holds a total of 9 dan (ranks) in taekwondo, kendo, and judo.
But while living an ordinary life as a delivery driver for his father's restaurant, Jung Do unexpectedly becomes the subject of a partnership with probation officer Kim Seon Min (Kim Sung Kyun) to track down violent criminals.
In addition, Kim Woo Bin will co-star with Suzy in another Netflix romance drama, "All the Love You Wish For", written by famous screenwriter Kim Eun Sook.
