The Black Label's first Kpop girl group, MEOVV (pronounced mee-ya-oh in Korean), made their official SNS (social media launch) debut on August 16 KST, at the same time revealing the group's name and logo.
In the group's moving logo is a cat's paw decorated with sparkling accessories. The logo's attraction is its sharp claws, alluding to MEOVV's adorable but dangerous personality.
Meanwhile, in another motion trailer posted by The Black Label on this day, five black cats sit atop the company's building, possibly alluding to the five-member lineup.
MEOVV, produced by The Black Label's Teddy, will launch sometime in the second half of 2024.
Previously, Rosé (Blackpink) joined producer Teddy's company after separating from YG Entertainment.
The Black Label made an announcement: "Producer Teddy and Rosé have been collaborating for a long time and based on strong mutual trust, we have signed a contract with Rosé.
Currently, Rosé is preparing to launch new music products to meet fans and will participate in international music activities through global record labels. With Rosé's unique musical color and support from The Black Label, we expect a great combination.
We promise to provide maximum support so that Rosé can develop her career in more diverse fields."
Thus, Rosé is the only member of Blackpink who has not established her own company.
Since the end of last year, Blackpink members and YG Entertainment have come to an agreement that all four members will continue to sign contracts with the company but no one will renew their individual contracts. This means that group activities will still be managed by YG as before, but each person's activities will be decided by them.
Three members Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo have respectively announced the establishment of their own companies, including: Odd Atelier (December 2023), LLOUD (February 2024) and Blissoo (February 2024).
Finally, Rosé joined Teddy's company, sharing a house with artists Jeon Somi, Taeyang, Zion.T, Park Bo Gum...
The Black Label started as a company under YG Entertainment in 2016, with producer Teddy (Park Hong Joon) as one of the founders.
