The million-dollar blockbuster "Antician hunter" starring "The Spider" Tom Holland has been banned by the Department of Cinema in Vietnam for its involvement in "the cow tongue road".
The "Shoa River Road" also known as the "ripe road" was drawn up by China, demanding illegal sovereignty over almost the entire East Sea area, despite opposition from the international community.
Before "The antique hunter", many other films were also banned from showing, had their scenes cut, and were boycotted by Vietnamese audiences because of "the cow's tongue".
On October 13, 2019, the movie "Little snowman Everest" was suddenly withdrawn from cinemas in Vietnam after revealing a scene of "row tongue road".
This is considered a major shortcoming in film censorship.
In 2018, the film "The Red Sea Project" was criticized and boycotted by Vietnamese audiences because they thought the film contained false information about Vietnam's sovereignty over the sea and islands. On the evening of March 24, 2018, "The Red Sea Project" stopped airing nationwide.
In early July 2021, Netflix Vietnam removed 6 episodes of "Pine gap" - a series of spy movies - after the authorities discovered that the movies had illegal images.
Specifically, the image of a "rip-off road" is displayed on the screen of a control room at a reconnaissance base in 2 episodes.
On July 2, 2021, Netflix removed the Australian spy TV series from its services in Vietnam after receiving feedback.
Some TV series shown in Vietnam have also been involved in scandals because of their involvement in the issue of island sovereignty such as "To our Warm Youth", "In the Names of the Family", "You Are My Cults", "You Are My Pride", "The Undying".
In episode 9 of "To the Warm Youth of Our Time" there is a scene of a TV screen broadcasting weather forecast, on which there is a map of the "row tongue road".
Like the two films above, the remaining three films are "Em la thien ban chong tu anh", "Em la khoang tai anh", "Nhat sinh nhat" also have scenes with "goads on the cow's tongue".
These films were all boycotted.
