Kpop idol Rose (Blackpink) recently released her first full solo album in her career called rosie with 12 songs.
It includes two previously released songs, APT., Number one girl and 10 new songs including: 3 PM, Two years, Toxic till the end, Drinks or coffee, Gameboy, Stay a little longer, Not the same, Call it the end, Too bad for us and Dance all night.
According to the Korea Times, the album rosie marks a change not only from the familiar molds of Kpop but also from the musical range of Blackpink.
Fans who expect songs similar to the previously released single APT. (featuring Bruno Mars) may be surprised, as this album is mostly in the Number one girl color.
Unlike typical K-pop hits that focus on choreography, the album rosie mainly has inner ballads, expressing Roses most genuine emotions.
The album is inspired by the female idol's personal experiences, such as facing difficulties as a Kpop trainee, the pressure of malicious comments, especially the pain of being involved in a toxic relationship in the past.
The general atmosphere of the album is sad and tormenting. Therefore, APT. was unexpectedly cold-shouldered by fans when enjoying the entire album.
According to many opinions, APT. with a cheerful pop-rock style is completely out of place in the album. Many audiences said that the song made them feel excited, and they created a new playlist to remove APT. from the album, experiencing the pain of infidelity in the most complete way.
However, another opinion believes that if we look at the whole story that Rose told through the album rosie, it is still acceptable to include APT. in this album.
The song revolves around two people attending a happy party and having flirtations with each other. This can also be seen as a part of Rose's old love.
On the other hand, with the previous success of APT., including the song in the album created a huge advantage for Rose.
On the day the album was released (December 6), APT. returned to the Top 1 on the global Spotify chart, with more than 10 million streams.
APT. contributed greatly to the album rosies first-day 28 million streams on the global Spotify chart (9 songs on the chart), making it the second most streamed debut album by a K-pop solo artist after Jungkook (BTS), and the K-pop artists album with the highest number of streams in 2024.
To date, APT. has maintained around 9-10 million streams a day and has occupied the No. 1 position for the 7th consecutive week on the two global charts Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US.
"APT." has created a very good premise, making Rose the K-pop artist with the highest monthly listeners on the Spotify platform, with a record of 62 million listeners as of December 10.
