Thu Trang's film is about to catch up with Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians"
"The Billionaire Kiss" and "The Four Guardians" are two notable 2025 Tet films. Part of the reason is the presence of box office stars Thu Trang and Tran Thanh; the other part is that in this Tet film season, there are not many outstanding films that are competitive enough.
Initially, when the Tet films were released on January 29 (the first day of Tet), "The Four Guardians" completely overwhelmed the remaining film projects (including foreign films).
At one point, Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians" occupied more than 6,000 screenings, earning a daily revenue of more than 40 billion VND.
Meanwhile, according to Box Office Vietnam, on the first day of release, "Billion Dollar Kiss" only had about 1,500 screenings. Each day, Thu Trang's film only brought in 3-5 billion VND and temporarily ranked 2nd at the Vietnamese box office.
However, up to now, on February 5 (the 8th day of Tet), Thu Trang's movie "Billionaire Kiss" has grown stronger.
According to Box Office Vietnam, as of the morning of February 5, Tran Thanh's film had a sharp reduction in screenings, with about 4,600 showings and earned 5.2 billion VND on the morning of February 5.
Meanwhile, "The Billion Dollar Kiss" is on a good revenue growth trajectory. The film only had 3,600 screenings but brought in about 5.1 billion VND in revenue on the morning of February 5.
Thus, despite having fewer screenings, Thu Trang's film is making a strong comeback and is almost catching up with Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians".
The reason why "Billionaire Kiss" broke out
The increase in screenings of "The Billionaire Kiss" helps the film shorten the gap compared to "The Avengers".
Previously, on February 4, "Billionaire Kiss" earned 12 billion VND, only 5 billion VND less than the daily revenue of "The Four Guardians".
According to film experts, Thu Trang's highly likely film will soon surpass the 100 billion dong.
The reason why Thu Trang's films have become popular, in addition to the increase in screenings, also comes from the content of the films.
Although the script of "Billionaire Kiss" is quite simple, predictable and not new, the film received many positive comments from the audience because the film has a cast of stars who act well and gracefully. In addition, the film has a gentle message, the "blind tearing" of the film's ending makes the audience curious, wanting to go to the theater to see the result (because the film has 2 different endings).
Currently, director Thu Trang and the cast are also actively promoting the film to bring it closer to the public. Thus, the 2025 Tet film race is no longer Tran Thanh's sole game.
