"Some people say "Blossom" became popular thanks to the formula of rebirth (resurrection) for revenge. In reality, rebirth and revenge still has "flop" series.
I think the success of this film is due to its difference from other reincarnation films. Dou Zhao is not reborn to take revenge. Cultivating herself, managing her family, governing the country, and bringing peace to the world is her life."
According to the director, because "Blossom" is his first feature-length film, when filming, he only wanted to make a film that was "okay, just good enough to watch". The reception of the work surprised Zeng Qingjie.
"I just filmed based on the character's emotions with a little bit of my own creativity and flexibility. The viral scenes were also thanks to the script."
It is worth mentioning that although this work is highly appreciated for both its content and acting, the director frankly commented that Meng Ziyi and Li Junrui need to improve their kissing scene skills.
"Among the actors I've directed, their kissing scene can be considered quite poor. They're both a bit awkward."
Previously, Meng Ziyi and Li Junrui confessed that because they did not have much experience before and because the director had very high requirements, they had to practice many times. The director's wife also showed them many videos to learn how to turn their heads and change angles when kissing.
Meng Ziyi added that even when they had a satisfactory kissing scene, the director did not call cut and she had to stop and push her co-star away.
However, Zeng Qingjie also acknowledged that the two stars created a sense of a couple and put a lot of effort into promoting the film. Li Junrui's acting in action scenes and Meng Ziyi's efforts to control tears were highly appreciated.
