According to the plan, for the first time, the cross-border cycling activity between Mong Cai City (Vietnam) and Dongxing City (China) will be held on May 1, 2025.
The route starts from Truc Son village (Dong Hung), through the border gate of Bac Luan II bridge, ending at Sa Vi cape - the starting point of the Fatherland of Vietnam.
This is not only an experiential sporting activity but also a symbol of friendship, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange between the two neighboring cities.
During the 5-day April 30 - May holiday, Mong Cai City will organize a festival of dance groups, bands and a cross-border culinary festival, with the participation of the government and people of Dongxing City (China).
This is a series of unique cultural activities, contributing to strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship and jointly developing tourism between the two sides.
Since the beginning of 2025, Mong Cai has operated a City tour program to visit the colorful city at night by electric car, tourists visiting prominent locations such as: Xa Tac Temple, Ka Long Bridge, Mong Cai International Border Gate, Tra Co Communal House, walking street, Tran Phu food street and Sa Vi cheering information cluster...
This summer, the city continues to innovate and develop community tourism products in mountainous communes such as Hai Son and Bac Son.
Tourists will experience activities imbued with local identity such as: bathing in Red Dao leaves, planting trees, harvesting agricultural products seasonally, going to the market, enjoying traditional cuisine, visiting the Dang surname mural village, sim of love hill...
The city also coordinates with businesses to implement high-end resort projects such as Tra Co Long Beach, health care and entertainment services at Vinhomes Golden Avenue Urban Area, to diversify tourism products, aiming at the mid-high-end tourist segment.
Mr. Vu Tuan Anh - Head of the Department of Culture - Science and Information of Mong Cai City - said: "In order to create a competitive advantage in attracting tourists, more than 80 restaurants and hotels in the area have committed to reducing service prices on the two weekends.
During the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, in addition to renovating existing destinations, the city will also develop many new products based on cooperation with Dongxing City (China), including a tourism route on the border of Bac Luan - expected to be announced and put into operation during this holiday".
"Regarding the type of self-driving tourism across the border, within the framework of talks to promote friendly cooperation between Mong Cai City and Dongxing City in March 2025, the Chinese side said that it is implementing the installation of vehicle screening equipment, and it is expected that this type of tourism will be put into operation in the second quarter of 2025," said Mr. Vu Tuan Anh.
In the first quarter of 2025, Mong Cai City welcomed more than 669,000 visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period last year, reaching 13.9% of the annual plan. Tourism revenue is estimated at over VND1,500 billion, contributing to realizing the goal of welcoming 4.8 million visitors in 2025.
