Many young stars act in movies
In 2025, audiences will see many young actors chosen by film crews for roles. For example, the film "Closing the deal!", scheduled to premiere in March 2025, is about the female lead Hoang Linh - the newly emerging "gen Z warrior" in the online sales livestream industry. The director duo Bao Nhan and Nam Cito chose Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien for the female lead role. Miss Thuy Tien also just took on the main villain role in the horror film "Linh Mieu" which earned nearly 90 billion VND (end of 2024).
Choosing a new name on the big screen was a somewhat bold decision by the director duo; perhaps they hoped that Thuy Tien would help the film reach more Gen Z audiences.
Director Huynh Lap returns with the film “Ancestral House” (released in February 2025). The film revolves around My Tien - a Gen Z content creator who decides to return to the ancestral house where her whole family lives to create “million-view” clips on social media with her close friend Phat Phi.
In this project, Huynh Lap chose Phuong My Chi to play the main role. The female singer is a fairly new face in Vietnamese cinema. She is also a Gen Z artist. Therefore, Phuong My Chi is considered an interesting color in the film race in 2025.
The Tet movie “Billion Dollar Kiss” also brings to the screen typical characters familiar to young people revolving around the theme of love with the participation of Le Xuan Tien, Thien An, and Ma Ran Do.
In the project “The Four Guardians”, Tran Thanh did not hesitate to give the main roles to Tieu Vy, Ky Duyen, Quoc Anh - new faces on the big screen. Miss Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen first entered the film industry.
In addition to already famous names like Thuy Tien, Kaity Nguyen... the directors also let many other young faces try their hand.

In the movie “Flip Side 8”, Ly Hai also boldly gave Le Tuan Khang - a TikToker who has been causing a stir recently - an interesting role. Director Ly Hai also created opportunities for Rapper Yuno Bigboi (Nguyen Anh Vu) and dancer Doan The Vinh to act in his movie.
It can be said that the audience going to the cinema is mainly young people. Therefore, the trend of making films with many young artists participating is becoming an interesting new trend.
Young but also need strength
It can be seen that when choosing young faces with a large fan base to act in a movie, the movie will somehow attract audiences to the theater. Young actors will create a fresh, different look when they appear on the big screen. This helps the audience not get bored when they are too familiar with the previous box office stars.
In particular, the typical movie "Flip side 7" by Ly Hai, his choice of young faces like Ta Lam, Le Thu... created a highlight for the movie, helping this project reach more than 480 billion VND.
However, choosing young actors, even completely new faces, also puts a lot of pressure on the film crew. Lack of acting experience leads to the opposite effect, the audience will refuse to buy tickets.
At the end of 2024, the selection of 3 young faces to play Long, Quy, and Hanh by the film crew of "Kaleidoscope" caused controversy among many audiences. The inexperienced acting of the 3 young actors was a minus point in the film, putting the project at risk of heavy losses. The selection of young faces must also go hand in hand with good acting and film content to retain the audience.
