Nguyen Ngoc Thien, born in 1951. He is a doctor and musician, was awarded the title of Meritorious Physician in 2004 and was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2012.
With over 40 years of artistic activities, musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien - author of a series of lyrical and emotional songs such as: Oh! Beloved Life, Flame of the Heart, Mother... have become familiar melodies, deeply rooted in the lives of music-loving audiences in the country.
In the program "Artist's Life", he shared with the audience stories about his creative inspiration and the difficulties in his artistic career.
When MC Minh Duc asked about his early steps in music, musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien recalled: “I am a very active person by nature. I often went to Cao Thang Street, Ho Chi Minh City to look for crickets in the grass on both sides of the road.
At the same time, I also happened to read a poem written by a friend about a cricket and I set it to music.
At that time, I just thought of writing for fun to satisfy my passion for music. Besides, I also love playing the guitar. There were days when I was very tired but I still lay on the sofa hugging the guitar and playing.
Curiosity and passion from a young age led musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien to embark on a musical career. However, according to the musician, his first compositions were not written according to a complete formula.
Besides, musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien's creative direction is not fixed. "From a high school student to a medical student, I was very passionate about the arts. At that time, I was the head of the school's arts department, but my main job was to play the instrument, not to compose," he said.
An interesting point in the career of musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien is the change in his composing style. Musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien also explained to the audience the reason why he rarely composes sad music.
He said that for many years, he often wrote many happy songs, songs that encouraged people to love life more. Rarely, he wrote sad songs like "Chia tay tinh dau", then released "Tinh suong khoi"...
However, the musician admitted that there are many colleagues in his group of friends who write very good sad music "like Trinh Cong Son, Ton That Lap, Tran Long An or Thanh Tung.
The male musician said that the above stars in their sad compositions have many hidden meanings and abstract nouns that remind him of many good things. He himself probably has a life that is not as profound as his colleagues, so he does not compose sad music.
