Thus, there are only about 3 months left for the tourism industry of Ho Chi Minh City to achieve the goal of welcoming 6 million international visitors. The end of the year is also the peak period for welcoming international visitors. Therefore, the city's tourism industry, together with localities and businesses, is promoting strategies, products and festivals to attract international visitors.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu - Marketing and Communications Director of Vietluxtour Company said that the demand of international tourists has changed a lot compared to the time before the COVID-19 pandemic, tourists tend to choose resort tours with high service standards and increase the time to experience tourism in Vietnam more in Indochina inter-route tours. By the end of the third quarter of 2024, the unit achieved 70% of the international market business target plan (inbound). According to this target, in 2024, the company's revenue and number of international market visitors are expected to increase by about 50-60% compared to 2023, depending on the market.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Toan - Director of Thuong Nhat Company - the owner of Saigon WaterBus and Saigon WaterGo said that river tourism is quite attractive to visitors. Regarding the number of international visitors, the percentage of visitors choosing river buses and double-decker river buses this year has increased.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that in order to continue introducing the city's typical destinations and tourism products; promoting and disseminating attractive tourism products, the unit connects travel and tourism businesses to exploit and develop routes, improve the quality of tourism services, and create richness and diversity for tourism programs serving tourists.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, total tourism revenue in September 2024 is estimated at VND 17,017 billion, down 5.1% over the same period in 2023. However, in the first 9 months of 2024, total revenue is estimated at VND 140,398 billion, up 11.9% over the same period in 2023, reaching 73.9% of the 2024 plan.
