On the afternoon of December 4, Chinese media reported that famous writer Qiong Yao passed away at her home at the age of 86.
The author of "My Fair Princess" is suspected of committing suicide. Her suicide note was shared by many media outlets. In the note, she said that this was her last wish, wanting to decide the last major event of her life herself.
The original text of Quynh Dao's suicide note read:
"Dear friends, my soul mates: Don't cry, don't be sad, don't be heartbroken. I left very 'gently'!
Those are my two favorite words, representing 'independence, comfort, freedom' and 'flying'. I escaped from the body that was slowly causing me pain, and gently turned into a snowflake and flew away.
This is my wish. Death is the only way for everyone, and also the last great thing. I do not want to leave it to fate, I do not want to slowly wither away, I want to decide for myself this last great thing."
Chiung Yao said, God designed humans to age, to go through a very painful stage of "debility, degeneration, illness, hospitalization, treatment and death". If unlucky, humans can become "bedridden old men", requiring intubation to maintain life.
She confided in her suicide note: "I have witnessed that kind of tragedy. I do not want that kind of death. I am a spark and I have burned all my strength. Now, before the flame is extinguished, I choose this path to return home gracefully.
Everything I want to say is recorded in the video 'When Snowflakes Fall'. I hope my friends will watch the video many times and understand everything I want to express."
She continued: "My friends, don't mourn my death, smile at me! The beauty of life lies in being able to love, hate, laugh, cry, sing, talk, run, move, integrate with the mortal world, hate evil, live carefree, strong... These things, I have possessed all of them in my life! I have lived and never let this life down!
The thing I can't let go of the most is my family and you. Love has tied my heart, you and the people I can't bear to leave. To let my soul fly, smile for me, sing for me and dance for me. My soul in heaven will dance with you!".
At the end of the letter, Chiung Yao noted that she chose death at the end of her life. She advised young people to live life to the fullest and not to give up on life so easily.
Chiung Yao is a famous writer, has had great influence in the literary and artistic scene since the 1990s and is known as the "queen of romance", supporting many famous stars.
