“Wushu Queen” Thuy Hien has many connections with showbiz. When she was a famous female athlete of Vietnamese Wushu, Thuy Hien received many invitations to act in movies and fashion shows.
In 2006, before filming the historical action film “The Bloodline of Heroes”, the producer and Johnny Tri Nguyen wanted to “target” the golden girl of wushu Thuy Hien for the female lead role - Thuy in the film.
However, Thuy Hien refused. The role of Thuy was then given to Ngo Thanh Van. Thanks to this role, Ngo Thanh Van rose to fame, she won the Golden Lotus in the category of Best Actress at the 16th National Film Festival. From then on, Ngo Thanh Van became famous as the action heroine of Vietnamese cinema.
Released in 2007, “The Rebel” also made a big splash. The film received many compliments on its special effects, especially the beautiful and eye-catching action scenes. Until now, “The Rebel” is still ranked in the list of impressive historical action films of Vietnamese cinema.
In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter about the reason for refusing the role in this film, Thuy Hien said: “At that time, I was pregnant, I refused to preserve my health. Moreover, not only “The Rebel”, I also received many other attractive invitations. I was invited to Japan, to the US. I was invited to train martial arts for action actors in the US with a very high salary… But I refused all of them, choosing to stay in Vietnam to compete as a wushu athlete”.
According to Thuy Hien, she refused all opportunities to go abroad and many other opportunities, because she chose a life with her children.
“In the past, when I was young, due to difficult economic conditions, my mother had to go abroad to Czechoslovakia to work to earn more income and support the family. Therefore, I lived far away from my mother, lacking her love and care. I deeply understand that. Not being able to be with my mother is a huge disadvantage. Therefore, I do not want my children to have to experience the same childhood. I will never choose any other life, other than being with my children, to take care of them and watch them grow up” - Thuy Hien said.
After her marriage with singer Anh Tu (Tu Dua) broke down, Thuy Hien raised two daughters. Thuy Hien shared that both daughters have the talent to play sports and martial arts. However, she let her two children decide on their own future career choices.
