Two South Korean tourists were excited to try grilled frog meat and stir-fried snails for the first time at Helio Night Market Đà Nẵng.

This is a reality travel program in South Korea, Battle Trip (Cuộc Chiến Du Hí), which continuously selects famous cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat… to introduce the beauty of Vietnam, cultural experiences, and local cuisine.

In the episode in Da Nang, the two characters who experienced it, actors Kim Seung-soo and Kang Kyung-joon, were extremely enthusiastic when trying fresh seafood at Helio Night Market.

This night market is a famous entertainment destination in Da Nang in the evening. The market is open from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm and is a combination of dining, entertainment, and recreation with various stalls. The two South Korean tourists were surprised by the large number of customers, not only young people but also families with small children.

Actors Kim Seung-soo and Kang Kyung-joon decided to try grilled frog meat and stir-fried snails. Both revealed that this was the first time they had tried these unique specialties.

The frogs were thoroughly cleaned, skewered, and grilled directly on a charcoal grill, similar to satay or grilled sausage. The golden-brown frog meat looked appetizing and had a very alluring aroma, attracting many customers to try it. A skewer costs 750 won (15,000 VND).

While actor Kang Kyung-joon was quite hesitant, his senior Seung-soo immediately enthusiastically tried the grilled frog skewer. He commented that the frog meat was similar to marinated chicken: “If people close their eyes and eat it, they will think it's chicken.”

Later, actor Kang Kyung-joon also tried it and realized that the flavor was not as difficult to eat as he thought. In fact, he found it even more delicious and suggested buying another frog skewer.

In addition to frog meat, the two South Korean tourists continuously praised the stir-fried snails. The snails were stir-fried with lemongrass and a type of sauce with a flavor similar to tom yum. In South Korea, snails are only boiled, so the flavor is not as attractive and rich as the Vietnamese-style stir-fried snails.

“When I just bit into the first piece, a sour taste appeared, but it would subside. The flavor is not too strong. I think people who cannot eat snails will also find this dish easy to eat”, actor Kim Seung-soo commented. In addition, he also stated that the sauce was the “soul” of the dish, making the snails more flavorful and delicious.

Both characters who experienced it stated that snails are similar to silkworms in South Korea, which can make many people hesitant when seeing them but become addicted when eating them. This is also the reason why the snail stir-fry stall attracted a lot of customers waiting to buy.

In addition to the flavor of the dish, the lively and vibrant atmosphere in the evening in Da Nang also made the two South Korean tourists happy. Both commented that the city at night is very beautiful, the night market also has a way of serving and eating that is casual and comfortable, so tourists do not feel too confined.
