Quang Tri province has allocated more than 802,000m2 of sand hills to Gosimco Management Capital Company Limited to exploit sand slip services at Quang Phu sand hills under a temporary project, of which nearly 48,000m2 is within the planning area. This is a new type of tourism, attracting young people, creating opportunities for developing coastal service economy. However, during the implementation process, problems arose when businesses fenced off fences and put up ropes to establish boundaries for project implementation. The local government has also invited businesses and households doing sand slip services to discuss and coordinate activities harmoniously, in order to stabilize the situation and ensure common tourism space.
According to Mr. Le Tuan Ton - Vice Chairman of Nam Trach Commune People's Committee, after holding the meeting, the two sides agreed to coordinate to jointly invest and develop services. There needs to be a next meeting to propose general orientations and solutions for all parties.
The leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province emphasized that the enterprise has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee and agreed to test the type of backpacking. However, to move towards official and long-term exploitation, the operation needs to be closely monitored, ensuring safety, environmental friendliness, and not affecting the landscape and community life.
Developing tourism is not only about opening the way to the economy but also needs to take into account cultural, humane factors, community role and sustainability. Quang Phu Sand Hill with its natural beauty is an ideal destination if it is planned appropriately and developed in a professional direction.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province said that tourism activities in Nam Trach must be implemented synchronously, in accordance with the law and put the interests of the community first. Initial shortcomings can be an opportunity to complete the process, clarify the role of stakeholders, and move towards building a harmonious tourism space between economic exploitation and landscape conservation.
