The “disappearance” of winning groups
Programs such as “Sister Who Makes Wave”, “Call Me by Fire”, “Anh trai say hi”… are introduced as places for artists to express themselves and find talented members to form a band after the program. However, up to now, the band consisting of the winning members after this program has “disappeared”, leaving the audience disappointed.
Typically, the Top 7 of “Sister Who Makes Wave 2023” includes: Diva My Linh, Le Quyen, Thu Phuong, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, Trang Phap, Diep Lam Anh and Mlee. More than a year has passed since the final night, and these top 7 have never stood on the same stage, let alone released a song together.
The lineup of “Sister Who Makes Wave 2023” also faced rumors of discord among the members, causing many viewers to joke that the newly formed group had disbanded.
A program that received a lot of attention was “Anh trai say hi” with the Top 5 “Anh trai Best Five” including: HIEUTHUHAI, Quang Anh Rhyder, Quang Hung MasterD, Duc Phuc and Issac. The 5 “brothers” announced to form the music group of “Anh trai say hi” were commented by the audience to have completely different colors, some of whom had never been in the same group during the time participating in “Anh trai say hi”.
Several months have passed and 4 "Anh trai say hi" concerts have taken place from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, but "Anh trai Best Five" still doesn't have a song together.
When talking about the plan of "Best Five Brother", HIEUTHUHAI just smiled at the concert, while Duc Phuc hinted: "There will definitely be a gift to thank the audience, but how fast or slow it will be depends on HIEUTHUHAI, Quang Anh Rhyder and Quang Hung MasterD".
The fact that “Best Five Brothers” have not been released together has also disappointed many audiences who spent a lot of money to vote for the 5 “brothers”. However, names like HIEUTHUHAI, Quang Anh RHYDER, Quang Hung Master D... are currently the most sought-after young artists at the moment. Therefore, it is easy to see that they have not had time to release a song together.
Another show, “Call Me by Fire,” has also received a lot of attention. After the “Almighty Family” was announced with 17 members, they have yet to perform on stage together despite having participated in two grand concerts. The audience voting for their favorite member has created a “paradox” in music shows, when famous artists tend to prioritize their personal schedules over the group.
When actors cross over into singers
Another thing that caught the audience’s attention was that after the end of the “brother, sister” shows, many actors crossed over to the singing industry and debuted as members of music groups. Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc was the first actress to “lead the way” when she debuted the music group LUNAS with singers from the “Sister” show such as: Trang Phap, Khong Tu Quynh, Huyen Baby and Diep Lam Anh.
Although highly appreciated for their visuals, LUNAS songs such as “Hoa xuong cactus” and “Moonlight” still cause controversy. In particular, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc once caused controversy for her weak and out of place singing voice compared to the other 4 members.
Recently, other actors Dieu Nhi and Hau Hoang also surprised everyone when they teamed up with Duong Hoang Yen to form the music group XYNTRA. In XYNTRA, Duong Hoang Yen is a talented singer, however, the female singer gave the spotlight to her two colleagues by taking on the role of rapper.
Or the B.O.F band including: BB Tran, Bui Cong Nam, ST. Son Thach, Kay Tran and Jun Pham after "Call Me by Fire". Originally a comedian, BB Tran also caused skepticism when becoming a member of a band. In the MV "Tet dinh noc" - a newly released product of the B.O.F band, BB Tran did not really stand out and was somewhat overshadowed compared to the other 4 members who were all singers. Sharing with Lao Dong, BB Tran admitted that at first he was hesitant when accepting to join the B.O.F band because he did not know in what capacity he would participate.
“After that, I thought I had joined “Call Me by Fire” for nearly a year to learn a lot from the “talents” and the program’s crew. When the program ended, why not take advantage of those things, so I decided to apply what I had learned to join this band. Currently, I will continue to learn from the members so that in the coming time, I can experience more new things” - BB Tran said.
The Vietnamese showbiz market is not favorable for developing a music group model. To make an impression and go the long way, music groups coming out of these programs need to be different, and have a well-crafted music product.
