Returning to the heroic past
With People's Artist Thu Hien, the memory of Truong Son is associated with the performances serving the Central Army in the anti -American resistance war. In 1972, she and Doan Van Cong Tay Nguyen performed at the time of liberation of Quang Tri. In 1975, she continued to stand on stage, marking the landmark of Hue city.
As for People's Artist Quoc Hung, every time he sings about his homeland, he sings to his father - a war invalid who returned from the battlefield but passed away when he was only 13 years old. He shared: My father is a hero in my heart. Therefore, to praise the heroes and martyrs on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is also to sing for my father, for his comrades and for all those who sacrificed for the Fatherland".
Those sacred emotions were fully conveyed in the Truong Son Memories music night organized by the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater. The program was written, directed by People's Artist Tran Binh and artistically directed by Meritorious Artist Quynh Trang. Participating in the performance are artists who have experienced fierce battlefields such as People's Artist Thanh Hoa, People's Artist Thu Hien, People's Artist Quang Tho, People's Artist Trung Duc, People's Artist Quoc Hung...
The program is a deep gratitude to the past, expressing faith in the present and aspiration towards the future of the indomitable and resilient Vietnamese people. The immortal songs will rang, bringing the audience back to Truong Son legendary - where the soldier's footprints and the singing of the artists forever.
Spreading patriotism through art
Meritorious Artist Quynh Trang - Director of the Vietnam Grand Arts Theater - shared that the Truong Son Memories music night was elaborately staged: "For many people, war only exists through told stories. We hope to recreate songs and dances performed by veteran artists, so that the audience can visualize Truong Son and show gratitude to generations who sacrificed for national independence.
People's Artist Tran Binh emotionally said that many artists are now over 70 or even nearly 80 years old, but are still excited and eager to stand on stage. They want to sing a lot, for a long time - to tell the story of the past, to relive the memories of half a century ago.
The program is divided into 3 parts. Chapter 1 is about division, chapter 2 is about soldiers cutting along Truong Son to save the country for the meat of the South and chapter 3 shows gratitude for the contributions of martyrs - People's Artist Tran Binh said.
