Vietnam welcomes the lowest number of international visitors since the beginning of the year

International visitors to Vietnam reached 1.65 million in April 2025, up 6.3% over the same period last year but down nearly 20% over the previous month.

According to data from the Statistics Office, in the first 4 months of 2025, the total number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 7.67 million, an increase of 23.8% over the same period last year.

However, April is the month in which Vietnam welcomed the lowest number of international visitors since the beginning of 2025, down 19.5% compared to March (2.05 million), down more than 12.6% compared to February (1.89 million), and down more than 20% compared to January (2.07 million).

This figure is not beyond the forecast of the tourism industry, because this is the last month of the peak inbound season in Vietnam. The peak season for international visitors to Vietnam usually starts from around September, October to the end of March and April of the following year.

International visitors come to Vietnam every month, according to data from the Statistical Office.

International visitors arriving by air in the first 4 months of the year were the most popular with 6.59 million visitors, accounting for 85.9% of the total number of international visitors and increasing by 27% over the same period.

The number of visitors entering the country by road reached 924,900, accounting for 12% and increasing by 7.9%. Meanwhile, visitors arriving by sea reached 158,300, accounting for 2.1% and recorded an increase of 4.5%.

China is still the largest source of visitors in the first 4 months of the year with 1.95 million, accounting for 25.4% of the total number of visitors. South Korea ranked second with 1.58 million arrivals (equivalent to 20.6%). Followed by Taiwan (China) (440,000) and the US (323,000), holding third and fourth place respectively.

In the top 10 markets sending the largest visitors in the first 4 months of 2025, there are also Japan and Cambodia (all reaching 280,000), Australia (205,000), India (204,000), Malaysia (182,000), and Thailand (169,000).
