The representative of the Department stated that the administrative penalty for Nam Thư Entertainment - the company of actor Nam Thư was based on Decree No. 119/2020 on administrative penalties in the field of press and publication.
Earlier, on August 5, Nam Thư's company organized a "media meeting" to provide and exchange information related to her recent personal life. After checking, the Department did not see the application file for a press conference permit of the actress.
The Nam Thư side organized the event to announce that in July, Nam Thư was accused by a social media account of interfering in the romantic relationship of a person who was already married. Nam Thư denied the information and claimed that she was being slandered.
Nam Thư said that in recent times, she suffered losses of hundreds of millions of dong due to the cancellation of her advertising and media contracts. She also sent a complaint to the relevant authorities with the content of accusing this account of violating the law, spreading false information that harmed her reputation.
At the regular meeting of the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center on August 8, Mrs. Pham Dak My Trân - Head of the Press Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications stated that in recent times, some individuals and units have organized events called "media meetings" in order to avoid press conference permits.
According to the 2016 Press Law, organizations, units, and Vietnamese citizens must notify in writing at least 24 hours before the event to the managing agency.
"Business units and rental locations also need to be aware of the law and require the organizer to provide a permit. In case of a violation, they must promptly report to the managing agency. At that time, the competent authorities have the right to stop the press conference according to the regulations" - Mrs. My Trân stated.
