As part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Bac Lieu province officially held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a Special National Monument.
Vinh Hung Tower in Trung Hung 1B Hamlet, Vinh Hung A Commune, Vinh Loi District, Bac Lieu Province has a history of formation of more than 1,000 years. Archaeological documents show that this place used to be a religious and belief center of the people of Oc Eo in the Kingdom of Phu Nam. The artifacts discovered through exploration and archaeological excavation at the relic are in large quantities, rich in types and materials, typically the 5 artifacts recognized as national treasures.
With its typical historical, cultural and scientific values, the Prime Minister issued Decision 694 to rank Vinh Hung Archaeological Site as a Special National Monument.

Along with archaeological discoveries in many other localities, the discoveries of collected and excavated cultural and material traces at Vinh Hung Archaeological Site have contributed to the determination of the history of the first ancient Southern Phu Dinhkingdom in Southeast Asia with a large territory covering both the South East Sea and Malaysia.
The collected archaeological documents have become an important foundation in the history of the first water-building period of the Southern region.
Vinh Hung Tower is typical and unique, a tower-shaped architecture in the South that is still intact and has the only characteristic of a remaining architectural foundation on the land of Oc Eo culture.

The formation and existence of Vinh Hung Tower contributes to the historical evidence of the formation and development of religion and beliefs of the ancient cultural residents of Oc Eo in the South - Vietnam.
To effectively carry out the work of preserving and promoting the special national relic value of Vinh Hung Archaeology in the coming time, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu suggested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism take the lead in coordinating with relevant agencies and functional units to urgently develop a Relic Planning to promptly determine the content and measures for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of original elements of the relic.

At the same time, orient the organization of space for auxiliary works, technical infrastructure systems and create a suitable landscape environment in the relic area to promote the value of a special national relic, gradually building this place into a Center for research and preservation of Oc Eo culture in the Southern region in the coming time.
In particular, calling for investment to upgrade transport infrastructure connecting relics, building tourism service areas; building typical tourism products in the form of archaeological relics, connecting tours - routes to make this an attractive destination for tourists from near and far, meeting the needs of tourism development in the province.
