Improving family life
Many Vinh Long workers work under contracts in Japan and Korea, sending money back every month to help their families spend, pay off debts, build houses and invest in production.
Like the family of Ms. Pham Thi Muoi in Quoi An commune, thanks to the money sent back from their daughter working in Japan, their daily lives have improved.
Ms. Muoi said that her daughter is working in the restaurant service industry in Japan, sending her family from 29 to 35 million VND per month. Thanks to this money, the family gradually stabilized their lives.
After 4 years of working, her daughter sent money to help build a new house worth nearly 1 billion VND, bringing a more spacious living space for the whole family.
"Thanks to a stable income from abroad, the family not only improves their lives but also invests in their children's education and covers daily living expenses," Ms. Muoi added.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan said that he has a 28-year-old son who is currently working in the electronics industry in Japan. Previously, the family encountered many difficulties, and after finishing 12th grade, his son worked as a construction worker to help pay off debts due to business losses.
In early 2025, when our son went to Japan to work under a contract and sent money back every month, my family was somewhat reassured. "Currently, I work as a carpenter and buy an additional cow to increase my income, both supporting my family and taking advantage of the opportunities from the labor capital my child sent home," Mr. Xuan added.
Non-profit program to improve labor skills
Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Doan Thi Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Vinh Long - said that sending workers to work abroad under contracts, especially through non-profit programs, is of great significance, helping to create jobs, increase income and develop human resources.
After the merger, Vinh Long province has more than 4.2 million people, the labor force accounts for about 66%. Since the beginning of 2025, the province has sent 6,189 people to work abroad, exceeding the target of 5,100 workers by 121.35%, of which Japan has 5,329, South Korea has 122, Taiwan (China) has 568 and other countries have 170 people.
Currently, there are more than 200 workers studying Korean at the Employment Service Center and registering to take the exam under the EPS program. Stable income is from 25 - 45 million VND/month, the average sent to the family is about 30 million VND, used for spending, investment in production, livestock and expanding the household economy.

After the contract expires, many workers return with high skills, easily find a job or start a business, with an income 20 - 25% higher than domestic workers, creating a competitive advantage and promoting local economic development.
To achieve the results, Vinh Long province has implemented many solutions such as: issuing directives and policies on lending capital, supporting workers to go abroad, promoting job opportunities, coordinating with the Overseas Labor Center to expand orders and occupations suitable for labor capacity.
At the same time, organize vocational training, foreign languages, job fairs and improve the effectiveness of non-profit programs with low costs, transparency and a high-income market, helping workers go abroad effectively and stably.
"The target for the period of 2026 - 2030, on average sending 4,500 workers to work abroad each year, is to form a young, disciplined, professional, and internationally integrated workforce, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of Vinh Long province," Ms. Phuc added.
