RT reported that the Russian military's Perun transport drone is capable of carrying a district fighter and can be used as a launching pad for weapons in high-risk environments.
The Russian heavy transport drone is being tested by the military. The large Quadcopter drone can lift a payload of up to 200 kg and is advertised as an affordable frontline logistics solution.
Quadcopters are drones with four blades, each with an engine and a fan. The Quadcopter can be controlled manually or can be automatic. It is also known as a quadrotor or quadrotor helicopter.
Known as Perun after the thunder god in the Slavic legend, the drone was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on June 17 in a test flight clip.
The video shows two different versions of the drone, one of which is an axle fan that creates enough lifting power to lift an armed person up with a rope. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Perun uses domestically developed software.
The second version of another drone appears to show the plane equipped with an Fagot anti-tank missile. The weapon was fired from both ground and air in a short clip that has been circulating on social media since at least January.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian version appears to have greater transport capacity and could be used for medical evacuation operations from the front line.
This type of drone is also being considered for transporting small ground clearance teams for surprise attacks and as a launching pad for weapons.
The Russian military plans to test Perun with standard air superior surface-to-air guns and missiles.
